Manuka honey is special given it’s the manuka tree the bees pollinate from. Forget culinary use although it is nice it’s also a very very good healer. Used for burns, scars and minor wounds. So don’t waste it all. Also FYI you can get the EXACT same Manuka honey from Aldi or Lidl, when I say it’s the same it’s literally the same lol.

Tesco had some 90 quid honey when I was there a few months ago. To be fair, honey consumption has gone up and up and honey production has gone down and down, so the cheap syrup stuff you buy off the shelves is mostly sugar syrup. Notice how it doesn't go hard in the bottle/jar anymore? Because most of what's in it is not honey basically.

14£ for a jar of honey is nothing compared to what i've seen. At H&B they've got a 250g jar of manuka honey for more than 100£, which isn't because of its taste, but because it has much more health benefits than regular honey. I'd say that only rich people who are really concerned about their health would buy that.

Diminishing returns, like everything. And we already have such high standards of food for very low prices that spending massively more on most products is simply not worth it. There is only so good a biscuit or some honey can be, for example. I mean, one is flour and sugar and fat, the other is just sugar.

@@EdChapman23 Fortnum & Masons is the most exclusive and oldest purveyor of fine foods in the UK, if not even the world. (founded some 300 years ago). I never was in London or anywhere else in the UK, but have heard and known about them even before the internet. I live for the last 50 some years in the USA, but was born and grew up in insanely expensive Zurich Switzerland. That 70 Pound box of chocolats are from Switzerland, made by Laederach, one of the best chocolatiers in the world, and they are very good indeed, produced with the best ingredients, using only butter and cream and organic choicest coco beans. However, as to the price, you are absolutely right, it is way to much, no matter how good they are. I would call it obscene and decadent. But for many rich people the price doesn't matter, as they possess practically unlimited funds. Some rake up million pound hotel bills in those luxury hotels London is known for. They pay thousands for just one bottle of fine vintage wine with dinner in a high class Michelin star restaurant. And this goes on while most working people struggle to pay essential bills and make ends meet.
