EDCO’s Fastest Garbage Man - Manual Greens

Here’s an Autocar WXLL EDGE front loader, driven by Francisco. This guy is known among San Diego filmers for being the fastest on the manual routes, so naturally manual collection fan like myself had to cross that off the old filming list.
The normal truck, a Volvo WXLL CWS front loader, was down that day, so he was out with this newer EDGE, which I guess is harder to work with. Francisco told me he’s slowed down a bit from his days in the manual side loaders, (understandable, he isn’t getting any younger) but he sped up from his normal pace and put on quite the show for me. Francisco, if you’re reading this, you’re the man. Thanks for sticking with the manual routes that the other drivers don’t want and making them so fun to watch.

Definitely is a entertaining video when manual crews will finish their routes as fast as they can. This guy was really fast, props to him for doing the job right! Love that truck too, reminds me of the Athens crews in Asuza. Great video!

North Central Refuse I totally missed that Athens connection there, an Octo front load body on a WXLL. Too bad that’s all done by McNeilus now. I’m sure EDCO will have something CNG on this route someday.

Nope, Azusa is still all Volvo Amrep Octos, and Glendora is still real quick with their 2015 Freedoms & two CNrGs.

I remember when BZ Disposal in Lakewood bought those Edges. They were also the first Autocars I had ever seen. This was back in the summer of 2002. I will miss seeing those when they are finally phased out of the fleets.

MrBillT believe it or not, these are spares for the Volvo CWS units. For whatever reason those are easier to work with.

Western Oregon Garbage Trucks I agree seems like lazy schlubs like these are becoming a little more common kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2KmZWh-l9mraZo. ESD is where it’s at. They keep it old school with the fast crews. And of course those guys who help out at Elmer’s in Portland. They’re pretty good too.

You better hurry then! Most of these routes won't be manual for much longer. At this point seeing a diesel FL do the route is a rarity.

Yep, I certainly remember those videos from years ago on YT. Seems like there's still quite a bit of green on that route during the Winter season. Great vid! BTW, you wouldn't happen to have any sort of recycle video from this street, would you?

Wow what a badass! No helpers or nothin! This guys speed really surprised me. He really proved to edco that he doesn’t need any helpers lol. I’m actually kinda glad he was in the edge tho the CWS FL’s are a little boring on my opinion. The shot of him entering and exiting the back yard was awesome by the way! It’s funny cause I’ve seen edco trucks with like 2-3 people on a truck... But then There’s this guy all alone ha ha does he like to be alone or that the deal? Lol awesome video! Hope someone else films him soon!

Trash master Lucas The trash guy is so slow that it sometimes takes him til 7 or 8 pm to finish. Meanwhile, Francisco busts his ass and does yard waste in the morning and recycle in the afternoon and finishes before the trash. I’m happy with any front loader that’s got a ribbed body and a little revvy-rev action when it dumps the carry can. I’d much prefer an MSL though.

It’s a one man job for him 99% of the time. He probably lifts about 6-10+ tons by himself per day. All his routes are in rich areas so I’m sure they get some nice tips around Christmas time.
