One of the greatest films of the 70's, which is saying a lot. Watertight script, brilliant cast and moody score. It makes you feel like you are in Chandler's Los Angeles, with such exquisite attention to detail, yet could only have been made in the era that it was.

I agree, nicely said! It's been my favorite movie for almost 50 yrs, and because it has such an emotional place in my heart, nothing will ever replace it at the top.
