NO EDDIE! What needs to happen is for TSU and JSU to play a home and home alternating series. JSU would turn out for a TSU game in Jackson every other year. But it's TSU that needs Jackson State to come to Nashville every other year, to boost their home attendance every year. The SHC is a great event, but it needs to DIE. Alabama and Auburn killed their game in Birmingham, to play home and home. TSU and JSU should do the same.

Kirby Smart also wants to kill the game with florida. He sees it as a disadvantage to have their biggest game on a neutral site. I believe he used to iron bowl as an example.

Man the Southern Heritage Classic between Jackson St and TSU had been going on for 40 years in Memphis. The city needs that back, because the crowd hasn’t been the same. They barley get 50-60 thousand people at the game now. When TSU vs JSU was playing, it would be 200-300,000+ at this event. Big difference

It's time to get back in. Set the egos aside. All this talk about us getting out was supposed to create more home games, and we still have the same number of home games. This whole fight is about traveling, lodging, and food money plus maybe a slight bigger purse. Why can't the schools and the promoter just get together and find another couple of sponsors? We're making this way more complicated than it should be. I think a lot of the talk before was just rhetoric that never would have happened in Prime never came. I find it hard to believe that we can't find another sponsor to cover the hotel and meals for the schools, and we can't maybe negotiate prices. We need to find another 2 or 3 sponsors and ask the promoter to put more into promotion of the event. JSU folks saying we don't like this game are lying. That's just something people are saying as a public narrative. Some people have been pushing getting out of the game for a long time, but they're a loud minority.

I’m no fan of Prime by no means, but the one good thing came out of Prime time at JSU is exposing the inequities of payouts to the two HBCUs that’s playing in the SHC. Fred Jones has gotten rich off HBCUs that he’s claiming to trying to help. JSU doesn’t need to go back to that classic unless Fred Jones gurantee a payout after expenses that would exceeds what JSU can get by playing a home game.

The the 100 Black Men tried to make it a MEAC matchup between A&T and SC State. Both games flopped attendance wise, and the classic was DEAD by 2014.

TSU DOES NOT travel. They don't even go to their own home games. A home & home is a big NO. They would get a major revenue boost because JSU travels, but they wouldn't bring JSU that extra boost when it's in Jackson. It's not about need because we lead in home attendance, but it's only fair to return the favor of a boost in numbers/money!

If Jackson State comes back it'll allow the boombox classic to be in it's original playing time later in the year. On the other hand if jsu doesn't come back I would like to see Alcorn St or AAMU in the ball game. Both schools aren't to far from the Memphis metro area so I think it's a win win. No, the Boombox Classic was in it's position the last two years because it was a non conference game the last two years and early in the year was the only place that both schools had an open weekend to schedule the game. Remember, Southern lost JSU as a permanent SWAC opponent when FAMU and BCU joined because thst pushed Alcorn to the west and the SWAC kept the Soul Bowl over the Boombox, making 2022 the last year the Boombox would've been played as a yearly contest as Southern was going to get swapped out for another team on JSU schedule. That forced the schools to schedule each other last year and this year to keep it going despite not being an official SWAC game.

So basically, even if JSU did go back to the SHC, that won't push the Boombox back later in the year. The Boombox won't go back to it's original position until the SWAC schedules the game as a conference game in a few years.

Texas A&M Commerce has been averaging 287 yards per game before playing the G-Men. Against Grambling, they were held to 152 passing yards. TAMUC had almost 200 rushing yards in the first half, but Grambling made adjustments and limited them to 78 yards in the 2nd half.
