www.vladtv.com - Eddie Griffin has experienced a lot of success during his career, but the famed comedian told us that his favorite film he's done is "Foolish," which was based on his life. Eddie also shared with VladTV how the film came together after he helped Master P during the start of his rap career by letting him be his opening act. The comedian revealed that his gesture led to Master P later offering to do a movie with Eddie and cutting him a $1 million check for the film's script.
While Eddie spoke about some of the highs during his career, he also spoke about his rough start, which included being homeless and "sleeping standing up" when he first landed in Los Angeles. Griffin explained that he juggled three jobs while waiting to break through in comedy, which happened after he caught the attention of Andrew Dice Clay during his set at The Comedy Store.
To hear more from Eddie, including the time he choked out Tiny Lister, hit the above clip.

Eddie Griffin is that Uncle who tells the best stories, is a beast at spades, drinks heavily, and is good at grilling. Every Black family has that uncle.

Glenn boi I am white 😂😂😂 and I support a bunch of whites from authors to directors to even musicians I just hate when people try to get defensive about black people supporting other blacks it’s not inclusive to them there’s just a lot of black people who don’t and they just are trying to change that is all half of my friends are black and we love a lot of the same white idols but there’s a lot of black idols that deserve more credit it’s really not that deep bro

The reason Eddie didn't blow is because he wasn't one of those YES men in the industry. He didn't kiss ass or take shit from people. His whole career was more so him calling the shots and doing things independently but hands down he's one of the funniest, most memorable comedians of ALL time. Also S/O to master p for doing what he did in the Game!!!

He was smart in building his empire because he knew how to reach his audience. Once he built No Limit, he made several blunders. The quality of the albums went into the toilet. They favored quantity over quantity. They had several artists that were whack as shit. Master P started selling Master P dolls that yelled “Ugghh.” He came out on wrestling shouting “Hoody Hoo” and had a wrestler named Swoll. The ultimate mistake was when he became a sports agent. The rookie contract he got Ricky Williams to sign is to this day, the go-to example of a terrible contract. He screwed Ricky Williams out of millions of guaranteed dollars because he was in a business where he didn’t know what he was doing. In the end, all of these bad business decisions hurt his image as the hardcore dirty rapper from New Orleans/Oakland. He couldn’t capture a new audience with these other business ventures and he alienated his core audience. To a lesser extent, you saw that with Bone Thugs and Coolio. The white audience came on board with Gangsta’s Paradise and Crossroads, but they alienated the black audience. Once the black audience checked out, the white audience did too because the suburban crowd realized they weren’t cool anymore
@RICO_SUAVE_86_
@RICO_SUAVE_86_ 5 жыл бұрын
StuUngar I agree with some of the points you made. Venturing off into the sports business did hurt his empire to an extent. When KLC (The Medicine Men) left in late 99/early 2000 the music was still good without them but was definitely missing that signature “No Limit Sound.” Then Snoop and Mystikal leaving, and C getting locked didn’t help either. By 2005/2006 everything really started to crumble. He is still one of the greatest/smartest music moguls to ever do it, right up there with Hov, Diddy, Dre, etc. Getting an 80/20 distribution deal like he did with Priority Records back in the day is still to this day considered one of the most savvy music business deals in the history of Hip-Hop music. He and Romeo have been methodically revamping and growing the No Limit Forever brand back up again in the last 10 years with digital music releases and upcoming films like “I Got The Hook Up 2.” They are slowly but surely back on the rise. There is still a lot that P and his empire have to offer us. It’s *far* from over with respect to No Limit that’s for sure. Oh and by the way P is from New Orleans and Richmond, not New Orleans and Oakland. I’m from the Bay myself. Easily 80% or more of the people who live in Richmond, CA came very recently from Louisiana (as in they were born in Louisiana, but came to live in Richmond later, just like P did) while others are like second generation. Regardless, most families in Richmond are originally from Louisiana and to a lesser extent Mississippi. Many Richmond folks still even have strong southern accents in some parts of the city. #nolimitforever

The issue with Kevin is that his stand ups are redundant and repetitive. You can say the same thing multiple ways which is why it’s best to stay organic with your craft.
