Obviously if it was every week it would get confusing (though I mean in other sports leagues more than one team often has a very similar jumper). Seems a small thing to kick up a fuss about. @luca papa I am a Carlton member and a traditionalist. I'd like to see Port Adelaide wear the prison bars jumper for every game except Collingwood. Wear a clash jumper against Collingwood. The prison bars jumper doesn't clash with any other club. Look at the EPL, plenty of clubs wear the same colours. For example Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal all have red shirts. The away team wears a clash shirt. Problem solved.

Now this is a Crows fan talking here. So the only team we hate agreeing with more than Collingwood is Port Adelaide. But the way I see it is this. How does this change anything at Collingwood? As a crows supporter it doesn't really worry me what Port Adelaide wear during showdowns. Eddie will always find a way to stop them acknowledging their SANFL heritage if their Guernsey only contains black and white (even though Port Adelaide magpies have been around longer than Collingwood). Maybe one way to keep both sides happy is to include the teal somewhere into the prison bars. That way Eddie won't constantly whinge that the "black and white" is only Collingwoods and Port Adelaide can still wear the prison bars.

Port decided they wanted an AFL license in 1997, and they took it, based on the fact that they were going to have to adopt a teal uniform - knowing full-well that by taking that license, that they would be starting as a new team called Port Adelaide *Power* with the said uniform. Enough is enough. If you love having a uniform that mimics another team already in the league, then you should've stayed in the SANFL, and left that AFL spot for a team that actually gave a stuff about the integrity of the league in regards to identity. And it's not even just about the bars, or colours - it is also transgressing on the name *Magpies.* And I say all of that as an Essendon supporter.

Really, Eddie McGuire is becoming an irrelevant artefact, of this modern era. He gets passionate, very passionate, about protecting his beloved black and white stripes. 100% agree with Eddie. It doesn’t matter if port had the prison bars for how many years in the SAFL, collingwood have have had it since the birth of the the game in THIS league that port joined 100 years later than collingwood. Back off and get your own colours, the black and white is and always will be collingwood

I’m anti Collingwood as a supporter but in this case Collingwood is right. Port chose to go teal and abandon their Magpies club at the start. Now they claim heritage?? Plus, it’s the AFL, not the SANFL.
