@@captaindeadpool1640I mean Garth Brooks started it technically. Radio country has been mostly following pop music since then. But yeah, Eddie Montgomery has a cool voice and Troy could do real right country harmonies, but he also sang a lot of choruses that were that pure Nashville pop sound that was popular in the 2000s. If he lived I think he’d be using snaps and auto tune and everything else, which is fine. They are a radio band

That crash happened in my hometown. My wife actually heard it happen, but didn't realize exactly what happened. So sad. I remember the first time hearing them. We took a road trip to Jacksonville FL for super bowl 39. We listened to one of their CDs over and over on our 16hour drive. Country isn't something I typically listen too, but these two guys got my attention. Still can't believe this happened, and on top of that, it was 5 mins from my house, in a tiny little town in the pine barrens of South Jersey

Even though this happened months ago, out of any celebrity death, this is by far the biggest one that impacted me. As a kid my mom and I would listen to country radio when she drove me to school or when we would go do something together. And my favorite band that would play on the country radio growing up was Montgomery Gentry. Why? Because the two types of music my parents would listen to was my mom would listen to Country and my dad was all about classic rock, and Montgomery Gentry combined the two and I've always loved their music. Why? Because I grew up on their music, and to this day I still blast their songs while I'm driving. R.I.P. Troy Gentry, we miss you brother.
