Back in the 80s, went to see a Hank Williams Jr. concert in which Eddie Raven was the first act. His performance was fantastic.

@frankstanley1388 I'm glad you had that experience. I am from Sr.'s generation, and wept when he died (I was 12), so I never cared for Jr.'s music after he began doing his own thing. However, he has a richer and more substantive voice than his father, and can touch me like he did when he wants to do it. For example, "Eleven Roses" and the song he sang in the 2014 movie "Cut Bank," titled Cut Bank Montana. He did not write that one, but no one else could perform it as dramatically as he. Terrible ending, but awesome presentation.

Had the distinct pleasure of meeting Eddy way back in 94 at a Fan Fair in Nashville. What a great individual he is. He signed a couple of items for me and we talked for a bit. He was personable and engaging in our conversation. I have always koved his music. Terrific artist an even more of a great individual.

When I was 18 & 19 back in 1989 I worked in a bar called Cowboy City in Azle, TX. It was a bar that was fairly descent in size and had 3 bar stations and a stage, I bounced back and forth between DJ and mostly barback and I remember we had a lot of great acts that played at that place, Keith Whitley, Bellamy Brothers, Gary Stewart, John Anderson, Moe Stampley..etc we also had Eddy Raven play there and what is SO DAMN frustrating for me now is that I took ALL of those guys for granted, I liked their music but I had no idea at the greatness they were, I just looked at them back then like another band. The only one I did recognize as greatness was the Bellamy Brothers, I was a big fan even back then but I absolutely have grown to love Eddy Ravens music and what I would have given to be able to engage him like you did back then and appreciated him then like I do now!

Talked to Eddy earlier this month and we talked about thirty years ago when our band did the best we could to back him up! What a super person! I was almost floored when he called me up.

2015-02-17 What a beautiful song! Just saw Eddy in Tampa with 3 other "elderly" country guys. He's 70, I believe, but his voice is as good as when he was 30 (unlike Moe Bandy, Johnny Lee, and Leroy Van Dyke), and he didn't have a big paunch like those three. He didn't even have the "big hair" he sported back during most of his career. He looked BETTER than he did then. You did a great job with fixing this video up. Thanks immensely!

Wow!!!! double Wow!!!! what a tremendous track by Eddy Raven. The man just blew the doors off country music during the 80's and and well into 90's. Thanks for posting this great song by Eddie. This is definitely one of my all time favorites from Eddy.

Wow, another jewel from my most favorite Country singer. Thank you for posting. Sweet memories came over me and made me very emotional: It was way back in the 80es as he visit The Netherlands (Europe). I was his chauffeur and drove him, his guitar player Frank Mayers and roadmanager Scott for more than a week around, all over the country. He dedicated his current song "Operator", to me, because, like he said: --"I taught him how to use the Freeways...."

I'm glad I could make it available for you; your appreciation means so much. Being a car nut, when I think of the song, I immediately think of the early Shelby Mustang in the video. But the way he delivers the message of the song brings up memories from my past that are half a century old, along with the sadness that I will "never find that island again" - and, as you said, the video amplifies my feelings by giving me visible images to re-energize my remembered ones.

@don312000 It is that powerful! In my case - I don't want to be too specific - I actually lived a version of the story. Now that I am 83 and it was a half-century ago, I must avoid dwelling on the memory because I don't know what happened to her or even if she is still alive. All I know for sure is that true love never dies. The Lord Jesus has blessed me abundantly with family, and in 3 weeks my precious wife and I will celebrate 52 years of marriage. We are humbled that we, in our retirement years, are getting to participate in the growth of our budding professional model GREAT granddaughter. I don't know if a website link will work here, but I'm giving it to you anyway, in case you want to see how beautiful she is. No boast, just fact! 🙂 www.thecampbellagency.com/portfolio/youth-fashion-print-girls/girls/1977060/willow-stirrat

This song came out while I was still in high school, fell in love with it immediately. So, when it came time to give the band a name, it was a no brainer to use "Southern Cross." Love the Stephen Stills tune as well. Should have seen Mr. Ravens raised eyebrow reaction when I asked him to sign a poster for the guys in Southern Cross. That was many years ago at the Caravan East in Albuquerque, went on to attend many of his shows, some of the best
