I earn more than that on the buses and it's less stressful. I have a class one HGV and I am still on the buses because why should I drive a 40 tonne wagon for crap money? Plus 15 hour days is no life. I do 12 hour days on the buses but get 3 days off in the week. I'll stay with the buses I think. No wonder the HGV industry need drivers when they work long stressful hours for crap money.

They smell like they had no shower in weeks and they talk in the way not many can understand but hey they are representing a company. They have very unique dress code. Please don't be silly. Refer to 20:30 and you'll see why I prefer buses to HGVs. To drive an HGV for £8 per hour is crap. I drive buses for £10.51 per hour and it is so much easier because all I do is go from point A to B and back to A and I get to go home at the end of the day and sleep in my own bed. I also get several days off in a week and many other benefits. I paid to get my HGV and wish I hadn't. Biggest regret ever. I am so glad I went back to bus driving. HGV is SHIT. Don't do it.

The company I did the work for is a well known company and when you start there they give you the impression this is a great place to work, then you see the state of the yard and vehicles. No lie a few of them stunk of piss, one had the air bag missing, a few stunk of marijuana. How the fuck do some people work like that I don't know. Actually, they are not short cabs, they're the standard, max size that they can be within current length regs. A short cab would be a day cab, where the truck is only used for day/shift duties with different drivers and does not have a bed/beds. The cabs you see will accomodate drivers for long distance purposes as far away as Russia for anything from a week to 3 months away at a time. Trailer tyres are super singles, have been since the mid eighties. We never see tandem wheels here anymore. In the Uk we operate at 44 metric tonnes on six axles.
