It's hard to find a better version of Eddie's eruption solo anywhere on KZbin. Great close shots of The Master at work! Long Live EVH!!!!

The sheer joy on his face while he's playing is what's it's all about. To be as expressive as you can be, with your instrument, regardless of the instrument, is the reason we play music. Live your best lives people, you only have yourself to blame if you don't. Be safe and LET THE MUSIC PLAY!

Man them early shows, especially the 1981 Fair Warning tour were just awesome. Sure do miss them days. RIP Eddie and thanks for all the great music and live concerts that I saw. They're plenty of good new bands who are trying to make a name for themselves, but can't because these so called "rock fans." Only care about the greats and nothing else. You gotta find the next big band instead of complaining how there isn't any good rock today. Also, their was a lot of shitty music coming out during van halens time. Trust me.
@PTPfilms9 жыл бұрын
***** Nowadays, the people are fully capable of starting a new rock movement. If a large chunk of people started streaming, buying, or sharing more and more rock music, and bother to support new bands instead of staying safe with the classics. The industry moved on because rock and metal fans are overly jaded now on how nothing sounds like the music of the past. Instead, rock and metal fans would rather complain about how music isn't good anymore and would rather wallow in their Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin records and t-shirts instead of finding new talent.. And any music that sounds different then the classics gets labeled "hipster" music and gets rejected on the principle that it doesn't sound like bands like Zeppelin or AC/DC. So basically, rock fans ruined rock. P.S. if you want good newer bands, check out The Arctic Monkeys, Beach Slang, Spoon, The War on Drugs, Arcade Fire, Wayne Szalinski, Cage The Elephant, Queens of The Stone Age, and, especially, Tame Impala.

Paul Raasch I was born in '81, the '60s, '70s, 80's and 90's were the best of times as far as music goes. Nothing will ever come close to the Zepplin's, Sabbath's, Van Halen's, Metallica's, and so on. Even Nirvana, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains were way better than the new stuff of today. The old stuff is just better. Always will be.
@Gregorypeckory9 жыл бұрын
Paul Raasch "new rock movement", by fans "streaming, buying or sharing more and more rock music"? Sorry, but in VH's early days, you had to buy the music; that is how they got huge; not by fans "streaming, buying or sharing"; two out of those three options are free, therefore preferred by fans, and yet, will do nothing for the band trying to quit their day jobs. Your analysis of how rock fans rejected contemporary rock is pure fiction. Even after mentioning the real reason rock is on the decline ("streaming" and "sharing"); you made up some silly nonsense about it being a problem with the fans rejecting bands for not sounding enough like old favorites. Take any industry, and give the people who support it, the option to get their products for free, and you will drain the life blood from it; that is what happened, period. No need for pretending to know the minds of all the fans; it's simple; no money spent means no "new rock movement".

I was lucky enough to see VH live 2 times back in the 1980's, If iam not mistaken it was 1983 and again in 1984. It was right out side of Washington DC in the state of Maryland at a place called the Capitol Center, which is no longer there, it was demoed for a big ole outlet mall, if anyone is interested there's a program on KZbin called rock and roll parking lot, which took place at the Capitol center, out in the parking lot back in the 1980's, I think Judas priest was playing that night., I was lucky enough to see iron maiden open up for Judas priest at the Capitol center also also, it was the arena where the Washington bullets played and the Washington Capitals played their home games..

He is head and shoulders above all the other shredders combined. I think Eddie is going down in history as a player that has created a sort of paradigm shift in playing the guitar like Hendrix, SRV, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters. Each has took what came before them and reshaped it into something awesome instead of just copying and sounding like everybody else. I'm blues oriented and not a shredder/tapper, but I love to listen to Eddie.

This from the master that never learned to read music! How many different "versions" of this solo have we heard? Each sounding immaculate? Like with Bach, Beethoven and Vivaldi, Eddie has over and over been imitated but when those who go above and beyond and create the never before created - for decades - this is when history is written! Thank you for writing history in our lifetime Eddie. Musicians of your caliber are so few and far in between. It will be a few more hundred years before another virtuoso of your caliber comes around - one who can take a note and do something with it that no one has been able to do before. Never again in this lifetime. Thank you Edward Van Halen!
