I totally can see why people hated Obito when they first heard the motives of his actions. On the surface it felt like he was only doing this for the sake of Rin, to chase his egoistic dream of putting humanity into an all-time-happy dreamworld so that he would be able to see his friend Rin again. But thats only the surface of the iceberg. When you take a closer look, that actually just cant be the reason. If he really just wanted to see her again, he just could have let Kabuto revive her through Edo Tensei or with Nagato through Rinne Tensei. His goal was not only to see Rin again, that was a reason, yes, but it was not the only reason. He was a soldier in the 3rd great ninja war and probably killed people and saw friends of him dieing, and that when he was around 12 years old. Obito, an always positive guy who chased his dreams of becoming hokage, got his world view flipped upside down when he saw what Kakashi did to rin. It's hard so say for me what Obito was thinking at this moment, mostly like "Wtf are you kidding me?" mixed with 100 other confused feelings like sadness and anger driving through his mind. This immense pain, not only did he want to get rid of this pain, of course he wanted to feel love again, even if it would be a fake love/a fake world. Like I said, he was a child participating in a war. With the help of Madara who showed him a way of a perfect world with all of his loved ones being alive, a world where noone would kill another for egoistic political reasons of higher ranked people. He just saw this as a way to feel happiness again, and there still is a fraction of his generous past-self: Why should he be the only one being happy if he just could let EVERYONE be happy again? So he still was nice deep in his heart somehow. He's just like a Naruto parallel who had nobody around him when he really needed friends, like Naruto in the beginning. But Naruto found people who gathered around him. Obito didn't, except for Madara and Zetzu. Over time, I really started to like Obito. So yeah, that's it. Btw very nice song again
