I'd argue 13k not even essential. Buying it brand new you wouldn't need to replace rotors and pads, and no one is telling you to replace wheels and tires. Plus audi and bmw do free oil changes for the first 3 years. The only thing to factor is insurance premium, gas is only a factor if your previous car made considerably more mpgs. Lesson is buy it brand new and not at 20k miles. Then replace it at around 30k-35k miles before you warranty runs out, before you gotta replace tires, before you gotta do expensive rotors and pads changes.

Decent video @EddieX, shame you are thinking of selling because as you say owning it longer will even your costs out and there is a lot more potential in that car for you to extract. From another RS7 owner, I've had mine coming up for 4 years and the car has just turned 5 years old, costs aren't as much as you have quoted. I change oil every 5k miles which including a BG products oil flush costs £120/ $150 including labour and I have enough left to top up between changes if necessary Road tax here in the UK because I have a face lift model with reduced emissions is £325 / $400 4 new Michelin PS4S 275/30/21 including balancing, fitting £1050 / $1350 which last around 18k miles Insurance for 15k miles a year £500 / $620 Fuel at £130p / litre on averaging 22 mpg which is what I get on 15k miles is £4,000 / $4,900 Annual service when I provide my own oil, £220 / $270 Annual road worthiness inspection / MOT £30 / $37 So total running costs excluding depreciation is $7877 for 15 k miles Other costs; when I bought it I had the paint fully corrected and full front end, mirrors, sides and boot lip PPF all for £1800 / $2208 and an annual detail is around £500 / $600. I change plugs ever 20k miles rater than the recommended 40k because I run APR hard and software which is £150 / $180 including labour APR Stage 1 ECU file £850 / $1050 (sale price) APR Catted downpipes (Slightly used) £1000 / $1225 Centre muffler and resonator delete from OE sports exhaust £300 / $370 Occasional costs for the car are quattro ATF service at £300 / $370 every 40k miles and brake fluid change every 2 years at £150 / $184. I also have the ZF box serviced although Audi will advise it is sealed for life and doesn't need it (ZF themselves suggest every 60k miles) for £350 / $430 I had my carbon rear diffuser repaired after it being cracked (7 inch crack top to bottom) due to someone reversing into my car for £200 / $245 which was full cut back, new carbon overlay, lacquered, cutting and polishing The big part though, brakes. If I had a dollar for the number of people who say ceramics aren't worth it I could buy a new RS7 outright. I bought a used car with ceramics on the car, so no additional cost to me and when they were measured late last year at 80k miles on the clock, the discs and pads that have been on the car from new were 22% worn. That in theory means I could run the car for 200k miles before having to think about replacing the discs, pads probably before that. I quite often see C7 RS6/7 owners having to replace steels, certainly on the fronts, every 20-30k miles which at that rate means they have paid more than what it was to option ceramics in the first place! They are immense, save unsprung weight over steels and just get stronger the more heat there is in them. So for a 720bhp / 1100NM family car that can keep everything including 911 Turbos, Huracan Performantes and Stage 4 GTR's honest (leaves V10 R8's and Model S P100D's behind, gets left by a 720s), how many other cars are out there for these running costs? As for reliability, like said mine is now 5 years old, still on OE turbos, PCV and oil screen and has had one warranty piece of work done in 89k miles which was a change of DRC to the revised dampers. These cars are made to be driven and the more regularly they are, the more they behave themselves.

If you're middle class financially and you want to buy a car similar in class like an AMG E63S or BMW M5, the main thing you gotta factor in is the insurance premium increase. Buying it brand new you won't have to worry about brake and rotor changes, you don't gotta change your wheels and tires, well maybe tires depending on how aggressive you drive. I don't know about Audi but BMW gives you free oil changes which is huge plus when buying a 120K perfomace sedan. I just traded in a Raptor for an E63S, insurance went up $80 there is no way around that. The gas will be similar as E63 gets better slightly better gas mileage, so no loss there. Mercedes unlike BMW doesn't offer free oil changes which is a huge huge bummer, if AMG engines didnt sound so good Id go with an M5 just for those oil changes. BUT Mercedes does give you a list of oil you can buy yourself. So I got $6.85/qt Amsoil which outperforms significantly the Mercedes Shell they sell for $11/qt which is a huge saving when that engine takes 16 quarts. Am I going to replace the stock summer tires, hell no, if I get caught in the snow storm which is rare I'll jsut drive slow and wish I had my Raptor back. And ceramic tint which is essential if the car comes with no tint should go for around $300-400 dollars, just shop around. My point is from personal example is you don't gotta drop $13000 on your first year of ownership. If you're coming from a regular car, look at how much your insurance premium will increase, buy your own oil/ air filter ect if no free oil changes, and maybe in the first year but be ready to replace the summer tires these cars come with at least at 18months of ownership, which is plenty of time to find a good deal for some good all terrain without breaking the bank.

Audi is inflating everything--if they charge 3 times more for all this stuff it should last longer.Part of the reason I got an 2020 AWD Stinger GT 3.3TT over an Audi.I am almost at a year and have had one 50 dollar oil change.I had a very rare crosstour Type R and oil changes--air and cabin filters and a set of tires was all I was out in 10 years of driving.I prob spent maybe 100 in a whole year on maintenence--even less when I changed the filters myself.I only put about 4 to 8k a year--very low mileage--but when i drive I drive--even going to a track in a few weeks and never had expenses like this.I have the brembos with geomet cross drilled rotors on all 4--like level 1 track ready and that was only $1200 dollars--but that was a mod--not a repair and the rotors have a 150k lifetime warranty and the brembos are also warranted for 10 years and the pads are rated to last 30k--even with moderate use.

13K thats not bad. Thats just insurance for Huracan. The avearge of car ownership is 12K. You had low mileage the badly maintaned germans will cost 40K a year if engine blows. You saved a lot getting good one eved if you paid a lot more upfront.

Sold mine earlier this year. $5k for brakes every 10k miles and random crap like excess tire wear, alignment and so on. Ridiculous.
@killerjhul4 жыл бұрын
hmm between depreciation and maintenance you are right around 10K. The rest of the math is based on where you register the car. 10K for a year of RS7 isn't horrendous. Same shit with M6.

Someone dogged that car for brakes and rotors to be gone at 20k miles..I had Type R brakes and R1 performance rotors (on a crosstour Type R--you can even see that the red paint calibers the paint got heated--paint peeled off in spots from the heat-- on track day and still no wear like this)on my last car and even though I do not drive it a lot.When i did I went fast--and mine had 25k on them and the pads were at 80% when i traded it in on my new Stinger 6 months ago.I got brembo calibers and pads on my stinger and upgraded all 4 rotors with geomet cross drilled rotors.I also have a you tube video and plan on 25k plus on the pads--even if I track once or twice it should not wear like these.BTW Audi inflates the prices by 3 to 5 times so that is probably a 1k repair on most cars--even most performance from other brands.My geomet cross drilled and vented rotors were like 1200 totally installed and probably are equal to these in quality.

audi's services cost kicks in the 2nd year, and if new, probabaly the 4th year. According to dealer, brake disc, brake pad, brake oil need to be changed every 2 years. on 4 wheels, that's $2600 on a regular A7, would be more expensive on a RS7, and because they disable ACC, it's only doable in dealers. Mid-level services, which kicks in every other year and does nothing costs $960.

Ive owned a 2013 A6 3.0T new until 2016, I was pissed that a damn brake unit is $3k to replace, AND is the same as the VW Passat! The thing is Audi electronically lock brake pads release for first 3-4 years of a new model. Brake Shops only have that electronic release access after 3-4 years. To me that was it, shady tactics. Got a bmw i3, then Tesla and never looked back.
