@@TomasVillegas Hey brother. I got focusgears for my Sigma DC DN M4/3rds lenses and I can't get them to work with this. What tips do you have since you were able to get it to work? I'm with you, I have a feeling/hope they can do a firmware update because it would be great to have that ability. I did use my 1.2 85mm manual lens and this thing works perfect though!

@@JeremiahNichol I look at the top of the Sigma and try to stop it as close to each end as possible with my finger. If you let it spin for a long time it's difficult to get accurate focus. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the great video. Been using the FocusPlus Pro for a few weeks and agree it is a vast improvement over the old version. You might note that not all "focus-by-wire" lenses work like the one you used in this video. In particular, on Nikon Z lenses the focus position is proportional to the speed of rotation of the manual focus ring. This is a really great feature for manual focus pulling - once you get used to it - but is pretty useless with the Edelkrone app. If you adjust the speed or smoothness sliders for switching between targets in the Edelkrone app, the focus positions will no longer be the same. Not Edelkrone's fault; Nikon should offer the option for proportional or linear response.

Hello Bill, I know that your review was posted about two years ago so I was wondering if anything has been changed since then. I use the Nikon Z 6II and a Z7II camera. To be specific I'm considering using the "Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8E ED AF-S NIKKOR VR Lens" or similar F-mount lenses (that are not focus-by-wire) and I am utilizing an FTZ adaptor to connect those lenses to my Mirrorless cameras. My main goal to utilize "Focus zoom pro equipment" is to achieve smooth zooming while the camera is in motion using the HeadPlus Pro over the slider. I'm wondering if it's doable and also if the head plus pro can handle the weight of a heavy lens such as Nikon F mount 24 mm - 70 mm ED. I appreciate your help.

Hi@@arko123 . Although there have been significant improvements in some Z models and lenses to remove the "focus by wire" restrictions, I'm not sure they would help you. If I understand correctly, you want to control the zoom ring. All of the zoom lenses I own (Z and F mount) are direct control, so I don't know the issue with FocusPlus. It should definitely be doable. Whether or not the Headplus Pro can handle the weight of your camera/lens combination, your should be able to weigh them and see what the Edelkrone specs are. I no longer own that lens.

@@arko123 It all depends on your subject matter and conditions, but the MC105Z is, by far, my favorite.

I love the focuPlus Pro. I use it mostly with cinema glass and it works pretty brilliantly. With photo glass I if it's a zoom, I like to put the ring on the zoom for some cool shots. My only gripe is that trying to control it from the app is pointless. It takes forever for the little scroll wheel to make any adjustments.

… yes, to scroll with the app is painfully. But it‘s much better if you use the Controller V1 or V2.

Hi Tomas, thank you for creating this video. I had wanted to check if we could remotely control the focusplus pro on the Edelkrone App? ie. To adjust the zoom or focus. Like you, I’m using the Headplus V1 and thinking of getting the focusplus pro as a means to zoom in/out remotely during a livestream. Thanks dude!

Thank you for the helpful information you shared. I'm planning to buy the Focus Plus Pro soon, but I have a Nikon Z 6II and a Z7Ii camera. Hey thanks so much for all your Edelkrone Reviews. I just ordered the Edelkrone Sliderplus v5 Pro Compact the Slide Modulre v3 and the headplus v2 all coming Friday. My question is ill be using my Sony a7siii witch has amazing auto focus...Will i be ok for now with using the auto focus for product shots? or am i going to need the FocusPlus pro?

You will not need this. The AF on the A7SIII will make capturing amazing footage easy.

Nice video! Have you every try target mode using focusplus pro? I have the same unit but after clicking the second target the focus just went crazy like it went defocus. Do you have any experience about it?

at 10:15 do you have some in-camera stabilization or post processing? The shot looks really wonky and distorts a lot. The background focus paper kinda moves in jump increments.

@@TomasVillegas Yeah, but it looks to me like it has been thrown trough a warp stabilizer or something. I remember we had to turn some image stabilization like feature off in a recent shoot with Sony camera as it did the same.

Hello, I also have everything from Edelkrone, I couldn't achieve good results with wire lenses, I use a Nikon z6 and bought a Samyang 100mm macro for the follow focus, but that doesn't work perfectly either, what else do you use for lenses?

For this you will need a cinema lens with hard stops. It doesn't work reliably with focus by wire (photo lenses).

Good day, is it true that you can only combine the Focus Plus Pro with the Head Plus and can't be paired with just the slider or the pan pro?

You have to be able to mount it to your camera some way. If you have some sort of rod system you can pair it with those edelkrone systems.

@@TomasVillegas Oh, okay. I brought it up because I read this review on the Edelkrone page regarding the FocusPLUS Pro: "Why this isn't functional with the Slide Module is beyond me. Falsely thought I could use this with setups that just needed a slide and not the full 3 axis tilt/pan arm but the motor can't pair with the slide module or pan pro motor on it's own unless the larger headplus is paired along with it"

When I use the focus plus pro for zoom in and out function the zooming is very choppy, not smooth. Does anyone else have this problem and would be able to assist me in knowing how to fix it? THANKS!

To get the best vertigo effect don't have all that parallax in your shot. Set the camera on the slider and have it push in on the subject while the lens zooms out. Or have the camera push out while the lens zooms in. It was really hard to see the effect here. Basically the zoom has to do the opposite of the camera movement
