Eden Amplification WTDI In-Depth Review

READ DESCRIPTION BELOW:
A review on Eden WTDI bass preamap. Should definitely check this pedal - very audiophile, subtle and accurate preamp which helps you to bring Eden signature sound to almost any amp.
Riff is taken from upcoming THEATRUM single. It's coming out November 2014. You can check band:

Pedal features:
Gain - controls the input gain for WTDI;
Bass/Mid/Treble - increase or cut the bass/mid/treble frequencies level;
Mid shift - toggle between 550hz and 2.2kz mid range frequencies;
Bass boost - add a bass boost to sound;
Enhance - this Eden EQ sweep is used to enhance EQ;
Compressor - increase the level of this control for more compression or set to 0 to turn the compression feature off;
Master - control the output level of WTDI;
XLR out - used to connect to mixer or other outboard equipment;
Groundlift for XLR output - lifts ground for XLR output;
Bypass switch.
No compression, equalization and other types of processing, just bass plugged into pedal.

Good tweeking of pedal but the bass phrase is iritating with short notes so you can not hear real sound. You had to change phrase sometimes

What did you like about it? To me it sounds like it just makes the tone flat. I didn't like it. At least not in this demo.

I just bought one. Man, this pedal is unbelievable and not only allows me to really shape my sound in many different ways, but it eliminated at least 1 or 2, maybe 3 pedals. I've downsized my rig. playing a vintage P bass and Ibanez 6 string thru TC Elec BG250 w 2 10's and peizo, The compressor is spot on, the enhance and mid-cut etc still getting used to, but the bass boost is freakin awesome. not a distorted boost, but a warm tube boost like my old stuff had. I'm still toying with it tweaking this and that, but well worth the $$.

4to88strings yes, this pedal is definitely worth its money. The only thing in sound tweaking that I did not liked is how Enhance works when it turned more than to 12 o'clock - for me it sounds like my ears got popped :D

Виталий Ганя it does take a little tweaking and fine tuning to get accustomed to and I'm still finding different sounds without moving dials very much. I have eq too, but keep it close to flat it seems like its too much going on and the eden can handle. I really like the warm tube tone. I can actually make my p bass sound like an upright. anyway, enjoy yours as I will mine. btw, what language is this??

butch reed I think this is very versatile pedal. And I'm a bit sorry that I do not have one. But playing with this was very awesome experience. And yes, if you speak about language of my name - this is Russian (just because Russian is my native language, however I live in Latvia) :)

i have same pedal :) use it for outboard preamp (great for low output instruments or passive bass)...in bypass,buffer boost signal to +10 db,this feature great when i use a low output active bass and i don't want use eden preamp circuity but i want boost the output to drive accurately a poweramp. very afforable,very musical preamp.

just got mine in the mail, havent tried it yet. this vid did a good job of showing how the controls affect the tone, but i would have tweaked them in a different order. i have 3 high-end amps to play with....i'll post my reaction to each when i figure out what works best with what...

butch reed there are a lot of options how this pedal could be configured. Speaking of amps - I got my rig (SWR head + Ampeg cab) in studio and it a bit tricky to make demos in that way. I have no proper bass mic also. So purpose of all my demo is to show how pedal changes native sound of bass (only for few reasons I run through plugins) by changing every parameters and combine them, like compression and input gain in this video.

Виталий Ганя hi- i meant you did a good job overall! i have an older 450 watt behringer, a 550 watt bugera hybrid, and a TC electronic 500 watt, as well as a couple smaller peaveys. i build my own cabs and they're in all sizes and configurations. my "go-to" preamp is a sansamp bass driver and i cant wait to see how the eden compares to it! cheers!

butch reed thank you for kind words! For my personal taste, I would use Eden in cases when I need to make amp more "Edenish" so to say.Very clean and very accurate. Probably would go first in pedalboard for passive bass. Or even try to plug it straight to power section via Send input of FX loop.

Виталий Ганя i'm not in a band anymore and mostly play for my own amusement...all my basses are passive (i build them as well). matter of fact i recently took my store-bought esp ltd (active) bass, which plays very well but i never liked the stock tone, and junked the pups and active hardware, and re-wired it with a duncan split coil Pbass pup..never sounded better! anyway, thx for the input, keep up the good work!

I've been playing with these pedal for a few weeks and it's great but I get a lot of noise, like a high pitch signal noise, specially when recording, it's really annoying. Anyone had this issue before?, or anyone that can help me with that; I really don't want to sell it 'cuz I like the tone I can get, but if I can't fix this I don't see any other solution.

You can find high pitch noise on a lot of bass recordings (like listen demos by UK shop bass direct) and if it's same type of noise, most probably you wont hear it in a mix. If it's too loud, maybe you should use your warranty. Also try to use Ground lift option (near XLR out of pedal) it could work.

Word ! I was interested in one of these. Good thing I got on the Tube and looked at some demos. I wouldn't want one shoved up my ass sideways. Better direct box/pre amps out there then this.

+javier eduardo I am window shopping for Bass D.I.'s at the moment and in my opinion, the Sansamp has one major flaw: The lack of a Mid control. That pretty much killed it for me, right there. This box seems like it's a much better deal.

+Laura Fotze Same here, then I found the Sansamp Para Driver DI, which has not only a Mid control but the frequency is adjustable with the Mid Shift knob. This pedal is my secret sauce and don't know what I'd do without it...

Приветствую, у меня на таком же преампе не работает настройка высоких, а если высокие совсем в минус вывести то пропадает громкость процентов 70%, заранее спасибо, может что подскажете?

Здравствуйте! Было бы неплохо, если бы смогли записать короткое видео со звуком, как вы меняете этот параметр, чтобы послушать понять, как ведёт себя настройка. Есть вероятность неисправности на стороне производителя, хотя Еден делают достаточно качественные вещи, но вероятность исключать нельзя.
