Lyrics for the people that want them :) Cause we've been driving so long I can't remember how we got here Or how we survived so long I'm trynna run from our pride Till you step out of my atmosphere And I remember I would spend the 23rd Reeling six feet under When I'm 30,000 feet in the air Chasing that sundown So far east I'm westbound Feeling like the edge of this world is new But you'll feel better when you wake up Swear to god I'll make up Everything or more when I get back someday This is more than just a phase, love Shooting stars all break up And even though it seems like half the world away Things will be better in America Heard the streets are gold there Maybe I could fly you out this place someday Chasing dreams like I'm on Novocain Screaming through your airways Looking back I almost thought I heard you say Stay, you're not gonna leave me This place is right where you need to be And why your words gotta mean so much to them And they mean nothing to me So stay, you're not what you're hearing Cause I've been watching you changing And who said you're one in a million Anyway? Cause you see only what you want to Your tunnel vision haunts you And you can't see what's wrong Keep sleeping through the P.M. Eyes wide open when you're dreaming You’re sleepwalking, just keep talking And maybe you can talk your way out of this deep end No B plan in your system Just tell me what you're thinking I'm scared that you might fall But you're not (x2) And you'll feel better when you wake up Taking off your makeup Sun always seems to wash our fears away And it's always shining somewhere I just gotta get there And even though it seems like half the world away Things are better in America Heard the streets are gold there Maybe I could fly you out this place someday Chasing dreams like I'm on Novocain Screaming through your airways Looking back I almost thought I heard you say Stay, you're not gonna leave me This place is right where you need to be And why your words gotta mean so much to them? And they mean nothing to me So stay, you're not what you're hearing Cause I've been watching you changing And who said you're one in a million You’re so much better than that (x3) Stay, you're not what you're hearing Cause I've been watching you changing And who said you're one in a million anyway? And you'll feel better when you wake up Swear to god I'll make up Everything or more when I get back someday Chasing dreams like I'm on Novocain Screaming through your airways Looking back I almost thought I heard you say You're so much better than that.

"This place is right where you need to be" is an underappreciated lyric, and it hits me every time, even if it feels like it's only being said in passing. I mean, it's basically saying "This is as good as it gets, your dreams of going elsewhere are so much more hollow than you could imagine. You may feel empty, but this is where you belong."

found this song when my boyfriend committed suicide a few years back. rediscovered it now that my friend passed away the same way, and within the same year lost my stepdad. that last part where the harshness of the song goes down, the "you're so much better than that", hits so hard. i find myself sharing this story with a lot of strangers on the internet because it's easier to confess to people you dont have to look in the eye. it's easier to just say that i cried while typing this than have someone see it. i know nobody gives a shit, im just some guy on the internet sharing some sad story just like everyone else.

For me this song is all about depression, and coping with depression whilst being in a relationship. The lyrics "So stay, you're not what you're hearing Cause I've been watching you changing" are so powerful and a perfect metaphor for constantly hearing depressive thoughts in your head about not being good enough, and this can be for literally anything, so powerful and debilitating depression can be; but to the other, normal person in the relationship, it is clear that the depressed is getting better, or things were never even bad in the first place, but it never seems that way to the depressed, hence the repeats of "things are better in America" being just a metaphor for how the grass is always greener on the other side; as well as "the sun is always shining somewhere, I just gotta get there" meaning things always seem better at another time, another place, yet never here, and now. There is always something imperfect in the eyes of the depressed, a nagging shade dragging down their moods and they spend their lives trying to reach that special other place, where "the streets are made out of gold". This never happens though, because they cannot escape their minds. The constant need to escape, to hide, and disconnect from the world is perhaps the most damaging aspect that a depressed person brings to a relationship. "Stay, you're not gonna leave me This place is right where you need to be And why your words gotta mean so much to them? When they mean nothing to me?" This is from the point of view of the normal person in the relationship, who is bewildered by their partner's need to run and hide instead of dealing with their problems, but the disconnect between the two individuals' mindsets mean it is extremely difficult, if not impossible for the depressed to be understood. You don't truly understand how they feel unless you have been through it yourself. "Maybe I can fly you out this place someday" is the desire of the depressed to make things better for the both of them, to improve his/her condition so that it is no longer the thorn in the side; yet note how the line starts with the word "maybe", which is yet another sad reality that the depressed cannot ever promise anything, because they know, that at any time their condition will kick in, forcing them to abandon their plans, commitments and all responsibilities. This ties in perfectly with "And why your words gotta mean so much to them? When they mean nothing to me" that the words of a depressed man, mean absolutely nothing. Presenting a facade of reliability at the start "to them" is just that, something that will be dropped once the depressed gets to know someone well and is comfortable enough to drop their shields, exposing their ugly side beneath. A haunting, yet beautiful song in my opinion, with sad, meaningful lyrics which hide nothing. "And you'll feel better when you wake up Swear to god I'll make up Everything or more when I get back someday" The relationship is doomed to failure, and perhaps should never have started. The song ends with the couple separated, with no hope of ever re conciliating. "Swear to god" and "Everything or more when I get back someday" is a bunch of empty promises, as the depressed has no idea when, or even if they will return. "Looking back I almost thought I heard you say You're so much better than that". The constant need for approval and encouragement that the depressed thirsts for drains the energies of those closest to them; in this case it is the normal person in the relationship. They started off with good intentions, helping the depressed in whatever way they can, endlessly and selflessly giving help and encouragement; but it's not enough, it's never enough. Eventually the patience of the normal person wears thin, and they mentally check out. They have their own problems to deal with, their own lives that does not simply revolve around that of the depressed. Notice how the depressed only ever says "I almost thought I heard you say", not "I heard you say". This confirms the above, that in the past, the normal person tried to help them, but in this last time of separation, they don't bother anymore.

- LYRICS - Cause we've been driving so long I can't remember how we got here Or how we survived so long I'm tryna run from our pride Till you step out of my atmosphere And I remember I would spend the 23rd Feeling six feet under When I'm 30,000 feet in the air Chasing that sundown So far east I'm westbound Feeling like the edge of this world is new But you'll feel better when you wake up Swear to god I'll make up Everything or more when I get back someday This is more than just a phase, love Shooting stars all break up And even though it seems like half the world away Things will be better in America Heard the streets are gold there Maybe I could fly you out this place someday Chasing dreams like I'm on Novocaine Screaming through your airwaves Looking back I almost thought I heard you say Stay, you're not gonna leave me This place is right where you need to be And why your words gotta mean so much to them And they mean nothing to me So stay, you're not what you're hearing Cause I've been watching you changing And who said you're one in a million Anyway? Cause you see only what you want to Your tunnel vision haunts you And you can't see what's wrong When you keep sleeping through the p.m Eyes wide open when you're dreaming You're sleepwalking, just keep talking And maybe you can talk your way out of this deep end No b plan in your system Just tell me what you're thinking I'm scared that you might fall But you're not (x2) And you'll feel better when you wake up Taking off your makeup Sun always seems to wash our fears away And it's always shining somewhere I just gotta get there And even though it seems like half the world away Things are better in America Heard the streets are gold there Maybe I could fly you out this place someday Chasing dreams like I'm on Novocaine Screaming through your airwaves Looking back I almost thought I heard you say Stay, you're not gonna leave me This place is right where you need to be And why your words gotta mean so much to them? And they mean nothing to me So stay, you're not what you're hearing Cause I've been watching you changing And who said you're one in a million You're so much better than that (x3) Stay, you're not what you're hearing Cause I've been watching you changing And who said you're one in a million anyway? And you'll feel better when you wake up Swear to god I'll make up Everything or more when I get back someday Chasing dreams like I'm on Novocaine Screaming through your airwaves Looking back I almost thought I heard you say You're so much better than that.

Damn, I can’t believe it’s been 9 years. This song is still up there on my playlist, & it never gets old. Eden’s music defined a period of time in my life that I’ll never get back, but I’m thankful I got to experience the (love & heartbreak) that came with an 8 year relationship. Hope all is well with everyone. Hold onto the memories that you cherish with all your strength. Much love. ❤️

this song breaks my heart as hard as it was broken almost two years from now and still recovering. I just want to say.. Please, if you know you can cheat on someone and let them down someday, just don't even start it with them.. you might mean the world to them when you do. And they become homeless from the inside and lose their happiness for a very long time and it'll be hard to get their smile back. Please.

At 2:52 , you can hear hidden songs in the undertone of the song. It's starts with interlude, with the line "I've been trying to dig my way out of the ocean" and around the middle with nocturne with "I won't sleep no more." They both play until "you're so much better than that." Like if you hear the secret lyrics.

Sketchy Drawings I always liked the background music for that part, but one day, I thought it said something. So I checked it out on an instrumental version of the song. Sure enough, I heard it. Now I can hear 3 parts of the song at once and can't unhear it.

Hey if your reading this, just remember that this pain is temporary and will not last forever, and while your going through it your not alone we are all in this together doing the best we can, I'm proud of you for still being here fighting everyday, cus it's really not easy but you still strong enough to not give up, know that I care about you and I'm glad your here, your feelings are valid and I believe you'll get to a better place with time. I hope this helps, you don't have to accept my comment or like it but I just did it for the people who needs it. Remember to drink water get some rest and check on your loved ones❤️.

So, I was listening to "Wake Up" by Eden and paying close attention to the lyrics and I think I cought on to something. I think Wake Up is not about a lover but about Eden himself. One the most memorable quotes from the song is "why your words gotta mean so much to them, when they mean nothing to me". I think EDEN is talking about his song lyrics. He's talking about how confusing it is that his words can touch so many people and yet make him feel nothing. Another clue was that if you listen closely you can here "interlude" in the background during the chorus. Interlude is a personal song about his own struggles. He also talks about how he's been watching someone "changing". This is yet another clue because in vertigo he keeps telling himself that changing as a person isn't the same thing as losing yourself. I THINK WAKE UP IS A LOVE SONG TO HIMSELF, in the most beautiful way. btw i copy this in internet, this is the reason of the song.

The song just wouldn't feel right without them. It's a cry out to someone in response to their cries out to him, removing the breaths would not only take away how genuine it feels, it'd silence that anxiety in his voice that maybe it won't reach the person on the other side and give them the closure that he had to find the hard way.

I know the real meaning behind this song is that he left his girlfriend (or a loved one) to pursue a career in America, but when I first listened to this, I just sat down and cried for 30 minutes. It was in 2016, and about a month after my brother had attempted suicide. It really seemed to me, like a cry for help. Back then I replayed this song almost every day, 24/7 but I began to drift away into other music. I've just revisited this because one of my close friends (I've known her for about 7 years) is suicidal. I was quite depressed last year, and music got me through it, so I'm encouraging her and trying to help her with this song. I just wanted to say that, because this song is truly life-changing.

wow. “who said you’re one ina million? you’re so much better than that.” that hit me. i’ve always listened to songs and never really took anything from it, i just liked the way they sounded. this opened my eyes. this music has *meaning* and a message behind. this is the first EDEN i listened. of course i had just got out of a relationship, and this song made me think of her, our memories. i’m sorry vivienne. i’m always here for you. “who said youre one in a million? anyways?..”

To everyone commenting "Why does he say things are better in America? They aren't!": I'm pretty sure that's the point EDEN is trying to make. This song carries a sense of hopelessness, of trying to hold onto something that's slipping away. The line "Things are better in America, heard the streets are gold there," is just emphasizing that hopelessness by placing faith in a dream that doesn't really exist. EDEN is using a sort of satire here. Now you've been educated. So stop complaining and love the music. :)

Verse 1] 'Cos we've been driving so long I can't remember how we got here Or how we survived so long Out trying to run from our pride 'Till you set fire to my atmosphere And I remember how I spent the 23rd Feeling six feet under When I'm 30,000 feet in the air Chasing that sundown So far east I'm westbound Feeling like the edge of this world is near [Pre-Chorus] But you'll feel better when you wake up Swear to god I'll make up Everything and more when I get back someday This is more than just a phase, love Shooting stars all break up And even though it seems like half the world away Things will be better in America Heard the streets are gold there Maybe I could fly you out this place someday Chasing dreams like I'm on Novocaine Screaming through your airwaves Looking back I almost thought I heard you say Chorus] Stay, you're not gonna leave me This place is right where you need to be And why your words gotta mean so much to them And they mean nothing to me? So stay, you're not what you're hearing 'Cause I've been watching you changing And who said you're one in a million Anyway? [Verse 2] 'Cause you see only what you want to Your tunnel vision owns you And you can't see what's wrong When you keep sleeping through the PM Eyes wide open when you're dreaming You’re sleepwalking, just keep talking Maybe you can talk your way out of this deep end No B-plan in your system Just tell me what you're thinking I'm scared that you might fall But you're not But you're not [Pre-Chorus] And you'll feel better when you wake up Taking off your makeup Sun always seems to wash our fears away And it's always shining somewhere I just gotta get there And even though it seems like half the world away Things are better in America Heard the streets are gold there Maybe I could fly you out this place someday Chasing dreams like I'm on Novocaine Screaming through your airwaves Looking back I almost thought I heard you say Chorus] Stay, you're not gonna leave me This place is right where you need to be And why your words gotta mean so much to them And they mean nothing to me? I remember listening to this religiously on a field trip to DC when I was in middle school, feeling absolutely miserable. I've graduated now with my first degree, working on my second, but listening to this again brings me right back to being that little boy, crying on the bus. It's such a weird emotion, remembering how I felt then so vividly, but being so different now, so much older. It feels like being a different person. Music is powerful in a way I just can't put into words.

Recently, I've had trouble crying. Now, that might seem like a good thing to some people, but not me. I really miss crying my eyes out, I miss the feeling of having a runny nose, but not in the same way you feel it when you're sick. Well you know the feeling. It's gotten to the point where, I can't get a single tear out of my eyes. Even though you could classify me as a "Sad Person" which would be an understatement seeing as I have mayor depression disorder (and I'm also suicidal.. almost went through with it once). But I just haven't been able to cry... But, the first tear I shed in, maybe months, was when I listened to this song on full volume one night. While I didn't cry as much as I wanted to. I got something out, and that's all that matters in this story. I still can't cry, but I hope I can get there, someday soon..

In April 2017 I knew Eden by this song. And I couldn't relate but I loved the feeling that music caused, I still do. After a while, around 2017/2018 the songs became real. I always listen to Eden, an artist who accompanied me in different phases and has been accompanying me, always the same songs. But never completely, sometimes I felt that when I died, they would remember me when listening to Eden, especially drugs, I think they still will. I no longer have the suicidal thoughts I used to, although some things have happened. I'm afraid that, in this new stage of my life, the part where he talks about the fall is really becoming real and maybe I'll lose the one I love. Maybe it's a hasty comment but seeing the way he (who I love) is acting, it's been killing me little by little and I can't say much. Maybe my happiness is always fleeting and not for me. But things will get better when I wake up. Maybe tomorrow or the day after tomorrow or a week from now. But first I need to sleep. And sleeping has not been easy.
@danielcamoe45726 жыл бұрын
Life is hard. Heartbreak. Money. Drama. Pain. What’s the point? I’ll tell you what the point is; the point is, everyday, you wake up and stare at a plain ceiling, when you could wake up and look out the window. Get outside of yourself and help others. I was depressed and suicidal for years before I made that decision, and I can say that my depression is buried in the past because of those I tried to serve. Pay for the person behind you at the drive-thru. Money doesn’t matter, people do. Don’t argue. It’s better to be kind than to be right. Look for the good. People always say that it’s okay to cry for help, but it’s not rewarding. It’s not comforting, and being in the spotlight because I reached out to others who were unwilling to help me made it worse. Nobody wants to be told to call some hotline that can fix their issues. Nobody can understand your pain but you. The one thing that everyone understands is goodwill and kindness. That’s how I got through my depression.

Listen, You got a couple options you can make or already have met or taken. One, Surrender. Give your self up to the emotions and feelings balled up. Give them control and hope to flow around in a void of nothingness. Two, Move on. I understand its hard and you may say "you don't get it" but I do... I have experienced the feeling of my lowest point. It hurt. No it really hurt. Inside to have all those emotions, and just feeling like giving up. But I thought to myself, What was I doing with my life? With the 70 so years of my life, I want to end it now? But it might hurt... And so? You will spend those years doing what? Crying over that girl who doesn't remember you? No, don't do that. In fact? Screw the first option DUDE/GIRL WITH THE LONG USERNAME, YOU PUSH TO MOVE ON I DO NOT CARE YOU ARE GONNA PUSH FOR THE RIGHT TO MOVE ON. The feeling is great. Its a great feeling of relief un explainable, to finally escape it, to leave the pain its, its amazing. But its a amazing probably for a reason. So thrive to do be able. Those 4 years, screw that... You got about 50 years + if your not an adult already. Now are you going to spend those years continuing to soak over her? Cause you and I know you shouldn't. Now Its your choice, but know, Awake, Arise or be forever fallen... Hope I am not 7 months too late.

this song attaches itself into the river that is my soul and pours its sweet chemicals in deep. it flows deep into me and pulls back out everything that makes me human, and it rips my heart out, forces it to beat faster and harder, and it shifts the color of my grey soul to blue with its melodic beauty, like night to the sky, shifting from yellow and blue to grey and then to night.
