For question 3, you can deduce that to get to the answer, you must remove 3cos2x whilst simultaneously getting rid of 3 cos^2x. I found it was much easier to simply write the LHS (left hand side) as cos2x + 3cos2x so that I could then write cos2x + 3(2cos^x-1). Expanding and cancelling out leaves you with the answer very quickly after doing that. All in all, really appreciating the content you've put up and would like to thank you - your videos will help me with the Autumn Exams coming up :)

He is looking for values inbetween pi/2 & 3pi/4 if you draw out the graph for tan(x) all the domain values inbetween this region are negative therefore the answer must be -3

by rearranging the formula so that the subject is cos^2(x) and then substituting it into 6cos^2(x)

Hello, I’m doing the whole of a level maths in one year as i failed it last year. I got C’s in pure and failed applied. Should i start year 2 content first or year 1 content? Since September, i have done half of the year 1 textbook. I still remember a lot of the content from year 2. Also because i am doing the whole a level in one year, how should i plan my revision? When do you think i should at least finish the whole of pure and applied by? Finally, would you suggest that i complete all the exam questions in the textbook and then doing full practice papers for pure and applied. Then reviewing all the papers that i done and focusing on sections/topics that i got wrong. Thank you

M H I would suggest to spend a bulk of your time on mastering year 2. For year 1, complete the mixed exercises as a way of revising year 1 content. Try and finish the content by December (complete all mixed exercises and review exercises) and then focus on completing past exam papers. Useful websites include maths genie (juicy maths questions by topic sheets with model solutions for year 1 and year 2), Crashmaths and physicsandmathstutor. I hope that’s helps 👍🏻

Revision Only I don’t need to do the exams anymore. I’m studying mathematics at university. When i first did my A levels in 2019, i missed months of college as i was ill. I think i got accepted into uni as my UCAS grades meet the offer and i had extenuating circumstances.

Revision Only when i say i failed, i got a D. I didn’t finish the content then. The weird thing is I actually had an operation scheduled on the day of my maths exam. This was in 2019. I worked hard in my gap year and got As in the past papers that i did. I was a private candidate so I wasn’t given any grades in 2020. The admissions team were aware of this and they helped me get into the course. I believe my ucas grades and personal statement helped me get in aswell.
