Had no idea I had this condition until I couldn't breath one day at work. My work mates put me in an ambulance and made me go to the hospital. Over the next three days they drained almost 40 liters of fluid off my body. I suffered with this condition almost two years where in my body was eating all my muscle mass. I was put on the transplant list for a liver. I was lucky to get a liver and it took almost 6 months to get back to the point where I could go back to work. I was so weak that I would have to pull my self up the stairs. It was not fun. I went through about 20 paracentesis procedures before my transplant at the end it was every week with at least 16 liters each time. I am three years post op for the transplant and 65 years old and survived covid without hospitalization. I'm one of the lucky ones.

I was on a liver transplant list for over 3 years before it happened. I was drained 2 times a week taking any where from 10 to 14 liters of fluid. I wore suspenders to keep my pants/skirts from dropping on drainage day. Started at women's size 18/20 and ended up at a 14 after draining. Transplant was done on 12/24/25/ 2019. My Christmas miracle.

As a Sonographer, I’ve been involved in hundreds of paracentesis. Unfortunately ascites is not just cirrhosis but can include patients with liver cancer (primary and metastasis) and patients with ovarian cancer. My most memorable patient was a lady a few years ago with ovarian cancer who was with our department nurses weekly for paracentesis. As we neared Christmas, she asked if she could sing some carols to the department. As we all gathered around with tears streaming down on our faces, she sang bravely and beautifully. She was gone before the New Year. 😢

I took my dog to the vet last month, and he's 100lbs so I didnt notice that his stomach was bloated, was calling him fatty, now I feel horrible. I found out that he had this problem and even through the drained the fluid they said I had to put him to sleep. I feel horrible I didn't know something was wrong. He was up all night panting, so I stayed up with him and took him to the vet in the morning. I never imagine they would have told me that. He was only 5. He was panting due to the fluid pushing on his diaphragm. I miss him so bad, I am devastated. Prayers to this man. I can't imagine what he is dealing with on a daily basis.

I can sooo relate to this video. 22 years ago, a simple gall bladder removal resulted in the dr cutting my hepatic duct, without realizing it. Went home that day. About two weeks later I looked like the gentleman in your video. I couldn’t walk, I was in so much pain. They drained 14 liters from my abdomen. I was so sick…I was in icu for 3 months because they didn’t know how to fix me. There was only 1mm of hepatic duct left to work with. Well, six doctors from 3 separate hospitals came up with a plan, Thank God, because I am here today!

It’s weird that this popped up in my recommended videos. I kept ignoring it but finally gave him and watched it. I lost my mom November 20, 2020 due to non alcoholic liver cirrhosis. I’m here to beg everyone please get wellness exams and try your best to avoid this if possible! My mom for as long as I could remember always have elevated liver function on her labs. They constantly told her to lose weight and pretty much but the cirrhosis into “remission”. 30 years of that it turned to stage 4 quickly. She was diagnosed with stage 4 July 5, 2019. She was tired of fighting the fatigue, fluid, itching, etc. she also missed my dad who had died 5 years prior. We were SOOOO close to a transplant but she took a bad turn over night and didn’t make it..So, please. Everyone stay healthy!!!! Love to all.

This video reminds me of my late dad 😢 He had kidney failure and had to do Hemodialysis for 5 years. His stomach was a bit big because of those fluid but didn't need this procedure as per doctor said because he was quite discipline to not to drink too much water each day. But sadly he passed away on July 2021. He has been through a lot in past 5 years. May my dad Rest in Peace, I love you dad ❤

The pain of fluid build up is super intense. It's the worst when it squeezes your lungs and heart, but mine is caused by heart failure not by liver damage. If I end up with twenty lbs of fluids I can't even lay down cause I will suffocate to death. It's shitty. This guy has much more buildup then I have had but it builds up in a different way then mine does. Fluid floods into my muscles and into any sacs that surround important organs and create lots of stress and pressure. It doesn't pool in my stomach like that at all.

Treatment of cirrhosis of the liver and ascites. Todka or Orso supplement with protein albumin, vitamins D320000+ K2100, Magnesium Street 400, Vitamin C Complex, Vitamin B Complex, methylene cobalamin, vitamin E, tocotrienol, psyllium, Omega 3, and zinc. Better yet, you analyze vitamins and minerals, and in a month the ascites heals. You continue to take the supplement every three months, provided you prevent any. A doctor laughs at you and withdraws abdominal fluids. They kill you like they killed my mother six months ago, and before that, my only aunt is younger than my mother. May God take revenge on them and keep watch over them and their families. It is necessary to prevent the withdrawal of abdominal fluids.

( I'm guessing that person means people who have used drugs......) basically saying why care for them and help there pain if they brought it onto themselves. That's sad and just that comment makes you worse then any addict or recovering addict I've every met. We all make mistakes in our short lives and ultimately we have too face judgement from God someday or w.e a person's higher power is! On a plus note it really makes me feel safe knowing we have so many Jesus's and Virgin Karen's on youtube 🤣🤣🤣🤣 P.s I don't condone abusing ones body yet on the other hand I know our world is really lacking sympathy and compassion in 2021 and its only getting worse! My LTR goes thru this procedure every 10 days. He was given a prescription drug last September. They didn't tell us in the hospital that side effect was possible liver failure. He had a good business, now he is very sick and weak. He had a stomach ache last September and woke up looking like he was pregnant. I kept asking the doctor was it a boy or a girl or maybe twins. Ha ha. They drained 12 litres from his abdomen. He lost about 50 pounds. I feared the worst but gradually things are improving. They told me he might die but it is June and he's still here. He has regained his appetite and 40 pounds. Last time they only drained 3 litres but in the past year we have spent hours in the ER and same day surgery. He has had to apply for disability which takes forever. If his parents and I weren't helping pay the rent, buying food, utilities, gas, etc, he would be out on the street. Somebody needs to improve the waiting time for disability applicants. Not only my LTR but friend of mine with abdominal cancer. They are both combat veterans

Ugh. That brings back some bad memories. I suffered from some pretty bad ascites after I took 3 bullets through the midsection overseas. The bullets entered through my right side, broke apart, and tore through my liver, my spleen, my gall bladder, and my stomach. I lost half my liver, my entire gall bladder, my spleen, 1/3 of my stomach, and 6 inches of my small intestine. Most fluid they pulled in a single time was about 9 liters, and I spent a total of 3.5 years and 17 surgeries to fix the damage (that doesn't include the amount of time I spent in rehab, or the amount of time that I spent after they amputated my left leg (below the knee amputation... I'm still trying to get lined up for an osseointrgration surgery so I can get a permanent implant, but because it's below the knee, it's not very likely). Shit was incredibly painful, and at one point I looked like I was pregnant or something. I did come out of it with some pretty awesome scars though, so there's that 🤷‍♂️

I'm doing very well. Must watch my kidneys now, was injured during the long surgery, but I'm stronger, able to live as much a normal life, with some inconvenience but few.. thank you for asking.

My dad said this was the most painful procedure he has ever had and it makes him sick to the stomach thinking about how he used to get this done onve a week. So glad he got new liver almost lost him. Hope this dude is doing okay now. Poor bastard

Did they use local anesthesia? I had it done with and without. The “worst part” was the puncture of the peritoneum - felt kinda weird and disgusting! I had multiple liver transplants. I’m glad your dad got another chance at life and I hope he’s doing well now! I wish him a long life and a lot of health!🍀

@@meellie he said there was local but too him it was so awfully bad that he was almost in tears and trembling. But thank you my dad is my hero and he is doing so great. Restoring cars! riding harleys again , making dirty jokes , painting. :) have a good one

@@eastonwashereeveryone reacts and feels differently, has a higher or lower pain tolerance! For example, for me liver biopsy was hell. They couldn’t do biopsy through my ribs, soo they had to use my hollow vein on the neck. In addition, the shaldon catheter always kinda slipped out and they had to start over and over again - 6 times! Thankfully, I was finally sedated for my third liver biopsy! Your dad almost died, went through so much pain and a very hard time but he survived - that makes him a even bigger hero! Best of luck!☺️🍀

Maybe a surgical resident not very skilled. I had two docs who were always very good at introducing the needle/catheter, and a third who always seemed to make things more painful. All three used local numbing injection first but the third one never waited longer than 20 seconds for the anesthetic to work while the other two always waited about two minutes, filled the time by chatting or jotting down some notes. The third doc always seemed to be in a hurry and didn't make much small talk. But even with the worst one, it wasn't that terrible compared to the greater discomfort of living with the distention. By the time I was due for my procedure I was like 'bring that sh-t on I'm ready'.

I was recently diagnosed with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Apparently it is fairly common and a lot of folks don't know they have it. I am so sorry this man has progressed to such serious cirrhosis. I will definitely keep him in my prayers 🙏

Please watch Dr. Jason Fung and eliminate sugar and carbs. You will reverse your condition. The SAD - standard American diet - is causing fatty liver disease, Type II diabetes, obesity, and kidney disease. Human misery for the profit of “food” conglomerates. Dr. Eric Berg and Dr. Sten Ekberg can also motivate you. Dr. Rober5 Lustig is excellent, but might be too academic for some people.
