Nice animated diagram early on. I think wrapping the fuel rod around the canister to pre-heat could be beneficial especially seeing that youre in cold climate

way too cool, the blue flame at night looks great, can only imagine how good that will look at night / sunset during flights, keep up the good work!

I will make something like this in the future but I have to make and design my own EDF to get the perfect spot for the project and to be reliable as heck thus making it easy to repair as possible.

Great effect but I myself will favour the led and fibreglass fibres for the afterburner effect. Looks just as good and little chance of setting something on fire...you on the other hand should up the ante and simulate the dump and burn so famously attributed to the general dynamics F111

That’s kind of the play, this definitely is a setup that requires lots of caution

great buddy.. have u checked the thrust yet??
@JRYBuilds
@JRYBuilds 3 жыл бұрын
I have not checked the thrust yet, I will cover that in the next video but I would imagine the afterburner only increases the net thrust between 5% and 20%

Oyoy, this is very nice! I want to build myself one, can u give me some tips? Another thing, can you tell me whar are the stripes in a circle formation before the brass ring? Thx
@JRYBuilds
@JRYBuilds 3 жыл бұрын
The “stripes” are a way of reducing pressure behind the ring. It’s just made of thin steel sheet that was bent into a circle and had a few slots cut and bent out

If you are injecting the fuel straight from the can, then hold the can upside down so that because of the extra pressure the fluid will be in a gaseous form which will combust more readily
@JRYBuilds
@JRYBuilds 3 жыл бұрын
You’re right, but I have found that the can being held sideways is the most efficient balance between fuel and pressure. It will also fit in a plane more easily if it is sideways
@viktormarusak3684
@viktormarusak3684 2 жыл бұрын
There is no additional thrust. Its only for effect. You have to use combustion chamber (to create expansion of the volume of fumes) inside the body of an engine and just afterwards let the fumes out. Otherwise its just a troch... Add chamber and nice nozzle, and try to measure thrust changes with and without. There should be some grams ;)

Without any means of compression you'll get no thrust and just a gas forced air heater.
@JRYBuilds
@JRYBuilds 3 жыл бұрын
This is partially true, there is some compression but it is very inefficient in this configuration. I’ll probably try and integrate a compressor in the newest design

No offense. Your not getting any more thrust out of that. Your basically making a large lighter with wind blowing against it. . Ki.d of like those jet lighters that won't go out easy.

Nooooooo, no no no. Don't Ground the bloody taser over the e-flux ring. Stop it, stop it right now.
@JRYBuilds
@JRYBuilds 3 жыл бұрын
I only used that method for the test which isn’t the best idea. When I was running it in the plane I used two wires which weren’t connected to the e-flux ring.
