What happens when you put a jet on a glider airframe? That's what I wanted to find out in this project. This scratch built EDF Jet is a lot of fun, wait until you see the sweet FPV onboard footage from the end of the video!

You would get much more power by adding a simple thrust tube. A 15% diameter reduction at the end is usually good for maximum efficiency

Great build, it flys nicely. Winglets, either raised or drooped are usually installed to reduce vortex induced drag so it’s doubtful you’d noice much of a difference in performance or endurance at this scale. Looks good though.

If you'd like to go faster, a good thing to do would be to add a thrust tube to the EDF. It'll build up static pressure behind the EDF and give it more speed. The tube also increases efficiency. You'll want the outlet to be about 90% of the area of the fan (minus the spinner).

Redesign the fuselage for the fan and all the wiring and controls internal as well. The main thing gained is a lot less external drag. Smooth it up a bitand the performance will increase a lot.

Great job Let's say we place we apply the same voltage with use for the rotor engine but you but instead we use an engine with the Bernoullis principle design, don't you think we can achieve a longer range?? The faster speed is produced NOT by additional voltage of the duct fan engine but by the Bernoullis principle ?????

Fantastic job...I have been waiting for this type of video for three years...why does no body offer a edf balsa kit like this? Slightly larger wingspan and the motor inside the fuselage like a U2 Set up. Next project for you a delta shaped flying wing but with edf motor mounted inside wing and thrust vectoring nozzle ...ie no moving flaps ......in any case keep going with the videos they are marvellous to watch marvellous to watch....big thumbs up 👍👌

Hey man, I think you forgot to credit By CoxX - Angels ( Prod. by DJ Fuzz ) for your intro music. I know EVERYONE uses this music and it's actually rare for people to credit it. Not sure how they come across the music and still fail to credit it. Kudos for using it, though! It's a terrific track. I've just bought myself a Volantex Phoenix 2000mm V2 glider. I'm looking at doing a similar project to this. Except with dual EDFs. mounted in sexy nacelles. This glider will fit right into WW2 ;) Cheers, bud! Nick.

I'm curious, could you put a carbon fibre spar down the centre of the wing so it sticks out each side and put an EDF on each side then make the rotatable? A small gear wheel in the centre linked via a belt to a motor would mean they're rotatable in 360°. Might be a completely stupid idea but also might be a hell of a plane to fly.

That plane performed really well! That seaplane idea sounds really cool. I've never heard of an EDF seaplane hotliner! Do you know how much power your 25mw FPV camera draws? I just bought one, but it browns out the reciever the second I move one of the 5 gram servos. My ESC has a built in BEC of 5v 1A, and I thought that would be enough power. Any suggestions would be great. Keep the cool projects coming!
