I came across this by accident i was born in Fort green Brooklyn inba park nick named city park c/o flushing ave & navy street there was a group of guys who did this every friday evenings about 7pm till about 1am summer june july august 1968 - 1973 2 Congas & 3 Congas & timbales God bless these 2 guys in video it brought back great memories of Hurc Choqui Cantlo Raymond Luis & other great Congas players from Brooklyns Fort Green.

This is incredible. I had the luck and pleasure of recording with JJ with Bobby and Roberto Carcassés while I was staying in Havana. Couldn't ask for a kinder cat and his chops are totally humbling man, this is awesome!!

Todos los conguero se estudian y se enriquecen unos de otros esto es musica dejen los comentarios desvirtuando con comparaciones que si copiaron estos talentosos muchachos de Giovanni esto lo han hecho en Cuba antes inclusive JJ el de espejuelo junto a otros percusionistas lo ejecutar en el festival de percusion de la habana as Cuba si el mismo Yovanny a dicho que algunos conceptos y rudimentos lo aprendio de la escuela conguera Cubana yo escuchado a Geovani en sus ejecusiones y formatos de variaciobes en sus solos incluye golpes y compases armonicos de otros congueros para mi el es un exelente maestro muy tecnico rapido que esto ultimo rapides no es lo fundamental de un conguero que por cierto en occasioned desviltua la ejecusion quiero decirles que antes que Geovani pusiera sus manos en unas congas hubieron antes que el muchos congueros que iniciaron lo que el hoy ejecuta las congas tiene su simetria compases y diferentes sonidos poliritmia marchas golpes limpios secos tapaos repiques cacheteos son una serie de conjugaciones de golpes y tecnicas que se ajestaron desde mucho tiempo antes de Giovani hidalgo inclusive puedo decir que en muchos estilos provinientes de Africa de donde surge su fundamento agregasiones de la tabla de la India cajon flamenco español samba brasilera pero el de acompañamiento de maxima expresion en formato para orquestas el merito y los pioneros es de Cuba sin discusion alguna los congueros incorporaron el sonido de bacteria o drums convinado en las congas en Cuba siempre existieron buenos congueros que dieron sus sportes tecnicos para que se ejecutara lo que hoy se escucha en los solos y en las marchas vertientes rumberas soneras guaracheras una game de diferentes estilos y sentido en Cuba se invento las congas de alli se creo el primer tambor y tumbadora es por eso que el fundamento y estilo de ejecusion se llama Cuba donde nacen y crecen rumberos como su vegetacion silvestre eso esta en la genetica en nuestro adn Cuba es musica recuerdo a un conguero ya dessparecido fisicamente aurelio Diaz conocido como Anga exintegrante del famoso grupo Irakere fue un conguero cubano que fusiono los toques ritmos y conceptos armonicos de la percusion de estos paises mencionados arriba Africa brasil españa venezuela India y otros mas toco inclusive rap con el grupo oricha era un virtuoso y buscador de buenas sonoridades puedo mencionar a rl niño alfonzo muchos de los conguero de hoy el estilo que imitan omo base es del niño alfonzo quien comenzo a tocar con 5 congas tambien fue conguero del grupo Irakere Cuba es tambor ritmo melodia virtuosismo su gente y cultura es MUSICA.

Hector Roca Hector ! Cuba has always had the best congas player! Remember Cuban musicians brought congas, timbales, bongos and clave to New York City ! Since the 1930 till the 1959 ! What was being played in New York was Cuban music and rhythm! Salsa the word was used in 1969 to market Cuban music after the Cuban revolution. The Latino community in nyc appropriated Cuban genres to market Cuban music/ Puerto Rican genres was bomba and plena ! Puertorriqueños adoptaron Cuban rhythm and instruments

Miguelito Valdés and many other ! Too prior to 1969 when the term Salsa was used to market Cuban rhythm after the Cuban revolution. Many Latino appropriated our rhythm and style! Puertorriqueños on the island played Afropuertorican bomba and Plena which didn’t become know in the United States ! But Cuban congas were ! Remember the first Cuban latin performers was Desi arnaz I love. Lucy show that was the first live conga player on prime time television!! PR adopted our rhythm and style
