He invented the concept of a wearable keyboard. What a talent. Sax is his third instrument, and yet he got the call to do sax for Tina Turner's hit *Simply the Best.*

the great Rick Derringer on guitar ( rock and Roll Hochie Coo fame)
@krkhns2 жыл бұрын
His fame actually pre-dates Rock and Roll Hoochie Coo. His band The McCoys unseated "Yesterday" at #1 with "Hang On Sloopy". Talk about a serious change in musical direction.

I come here to watch y'all's reaction, not to watch a music video in which we all have already seen a hundred times. Please make the screen showing you bigger than the music video. You two are the stars and reason for this channel. We want to see you!

Yes you have witnessed greatness!!! The crazy part is they are out of Texas and Edgar has just the coolest Texan accent. So calm and sweet. He's a legend in my book!!!!

I got to see him do this in the 90s at Bedford Blues festival. Great show. I think he even played the guitar and bass during it.

Saw this live in 1973, while it was still on the radio 20 times a day LOL. JoJo Gunne and Savoy Brown were the opening acts.

That's what a fully analog synthesizer looked like in the 70's. Lots of knobs, buttons, sliders and patch cables, controlling filters, envelope generators, ocillators, and noise and wave generators. The keyboard itself probably weighs close to 50 pounds. The cable between the the board and the main unit was, most likely, very short and very thick. Probably 10-12 feet long, and up to over an inch thick. Within a few years after that, MIDI protocols were established and synths began going digital (FM&Small sampled WAV files). Some of the most used synth sounds come from those early digital keyboards. The Juno and Jupiter lines from Korg, and the DX series from Yamaha, are still sampled today. Along with bass and drum samples taken from early TR/TB series rhythm composers by Roland.

This was a song meant to be heard with the studio version. Very clever for it's time. I understand the difficulty of loading many studio versions of course. For old time music your patrons should suggest another Chicago like I'm a Man. Could be studio or from the same live concert as 25 or 6 to 4. The 2 stars were guitarist Kath & drummer Seraphine.

Edgar and his twin brother are both albinos. They used to say in interviews that because of that, when other kids were outside playing in the sun, they had to stay inside, so they used the time to learn as many instruments as they could. Both brothers are absolutely absurd musicians.

Edgar and Johnny Winter weren't Twins. Johnny was 2 years older and passed away in 2014.

You really have to check out Overkill's cover of this song! It kicks ass! Seriously look though at Ed handling all those instruments and the synth... He's like Geddie Lee and Steve Walsh of Kansas, doing like three things at once all the time.
@mikhailgorshkov49982 жыл бұрын
You definitely need to check out the cover that was done by Overkill on their 1991 album (Horrorscope). Both cover and the rest of the album are more than recommended 🤘
