Edgar your videos are great. I have this unfortunate memory of when the sound post fell out of my husbands double bass. I think it was 8 hours of messing around trying to get it back in position. In those days we did not realise that there was a special device which you can buy to help do this. And this was 20 or more years ago, no youtube! It was like mental torture. If it happened now I'd order him out of the house with the bass to the instrument repair shop - no question. Some things are just too painful for us non-experts to deal with. Double basses have a mind of their own and change with every atmospheric or lunar change. I want to move to Cremona now. I might just learn Italian.

Dear Mr. Russ, like so many others in the violin world I am a bit befuddled by the phenomenon of differing sound characteristics generated by different bows. Have you an opinion on this, and if proper, would you be so kind as to share it? Thank you.

Edgar. Non sono un liutaio come te. ma vogliono costruire una chitarra acustica nello stile o nel metodo di come Antonio Stratavari ha fatto violini. Ecco le mie domande: 1) qual è il miglior legno tono da utilizzare per la produzione di strumenti acustici, e quanto dovrebbe essere spesso? In una chitarra, avete bisogno di una striscia di basso di legno o post del suono come violini hanno, di legno per fare il suono dei bassi? Quale livello di contenuto di umidità dovrebbe avere il legno sonoro per fare un buon strumento? 2) Come si fa a determinare in quale posizione e dimensione i fori del suono "F" dovrebbero essere su uno strumento? 3) Una chitarra ha un collo molto più pesante e più lungo di un violino, e come sarebbe un liutaio (liutaio) attaccare il collo alla chitarra in modo che non rompe il corpo più sottile della chitarra? 4) Qual è stata la ricetta per la miscela di ingredienti che Antonio Stratavari ha usato in quei giorni che durante il 1600 e il 1700 per incollare insieme i pezzi di legno e come macchia e vernice per aiutare nella qualità del suono? Se si potesse rispondere a queste domande, cercherò di creare un tale strumento di chitarra che sarei in grado di mestiere nello stile di e con componenti simili come utilizzato da A. Strativari. Non riesco a trovare da nessuna parte le risposte a queste domande di base. Qualsiasi aiuto si può dare è molto apprezzato. Mille Grazie.
