When are you edge bevelling? Before you start this process, or not at all?! Thanks

Hi, edge beveling is not required when edge painting which makes sense as the edge painting needs to be compatible with softer chrome tanned leathers. It is the paint itself that rounds the edge when it is shaped by the sanding steps. The edge creaser also helps to round off the edge too.

There is no exact temperature as each electric creasing machine has different settings. When smoothing wax, the wax should become clearer only briefly after passing over it with the electric creaser and then return to its normal colour.

Would you say you need a filetuse to attain such a smooth surface? Or is it all in the Sanding?

Hi Teran! I have learned so much from your videos and always look forward to what you will do next. I am struggling with edge pairing currently. I can complete a simple strap like this beautifully, but my issue comes when I am trying to finish the edges of a wallet that is stitched together, it seems that the paint never dries evenly, globs form on corners or wherever gravity takes it, etc. could you do a tutorial on this or do you have any other resources??
@TeranAtelier2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Make sure you mix your paint uniformly before you use it and try to get all layers even. You can try adding a bit of water to dilute the paint to make it thinner so you can get thinner layers, normally limited to around 10% added water depending on the brand. Corners and curves can be a bit tricky but thinner layers will stop the paint from running due to gravity.
