Cutting a rope is very specific as a test of the cutting edge. Sailors for example used not polished blades to keep the scabbard rough. The test is incorrect because only one material was cut (1), the knives were not previously tested for sharpness (2), the cutting "pad" was the same, fine particles can get stuck (3).

Greetings from Bulgaria! I would like to add few things about the seels of those knives. After that you may want to redo the tests with those very same knives. Here's why: 1) Mora uses 12c27 on most of their stainless knives and UHB-20c on the carbon blades. The latter is widely accepted to be one of the very good HC steels. 2) Bahco knives use 12c27 for stainless blades that are made in Sweden. The ones made in China use may be using Japanese AUS-8 or their own equivalent 8cr13MoV. This could explain the cutting difference, since AUS-8 is widely regarded as the better steel when compared to the 12c27. So, now that we know wich blade is made from what steel, here is a possible explaination on why we saw what we saw in this video: - during manufacturing, the bades might have been overheated especially when polished. Mora polishes their blades to a mirror finish. A possible solution to the overheating problem might be resharpening the blades. It might take few resharpening sessions, but after each session the knives should stay sharp for a longer period of usage until they reach their maximum potential. - IF I am wrong on the blade steel of the Chinese made Bahco knives and resharpening the Mora blades gives better results then I would guess Chinese blades are made from 5cr13 steel which in theory at least can explain the weaker result. Hopefuly my comment will bring some clarity on those results. Cheers!

@@Superbus753 Yes I saw but he uses thin string for testing. I think a thicker rope engages more of the blade and the geometry of the knife plays a significant role not just the material. I certainly look at several tests from different sources and compare the results, the truth is somewhere in between

What is the price of Chinese bahco and what on swedes knifes.
@dplusa
@dplusa Жыл бұрын
Bahco 1446 around 10 eur , 2444 around 12 and mora i think around 14 . But those prices vary depending on the country and the store where they are sold, but the ratio is roughly like this, with a difference of 2 euros

Most(all?) moras come with a hollow grind from the factory. Most knife testers will put a new edge on and end up getting double, or more, the number of original cuts.
@dplusa
@dplusa Жыл бұрын
Yes, all Mora knives are hollow ground. They are ground on large grinding wheels over a meter in diameter. That's why I re-sharpened each knife before the test, but I couldn't remove a significant amount of material, that would be a rework.

I have tested Companion, Companion HD, Kansbol, Eldris and Garberg and they are scandi. They are not true scandi they have secondary bevel but it is flat it is not hollow grind.
