I love the way maestro Edicson plays every single note with so much love and power.

It's just amazing to see and hear someone who finally takes the time to play this, and give it even more richness and density as we thought possible. You're right to avoid the conventional way to play, and to show what can be done with this piece. Not that the other "conventional" bassists are bad, some of them are unbelievable virtuosos. But next to this it can sound quite shallow, even somehow artificial. You reach something very intense and authentic (of course we need not to pay attention to people with pre-made expectations who will say "this is how you should play, this is how you should not play"), it sounds really right and I thank you for letting us know that some people out there dare going beyond the usual. If I may, I just regret that you don't give the same weight/intensity/richness to the double stops at the end of the 1st movement. If you read this one day, dear Mr Ruiz, my opinion is that you can go further on this part :) it should be foreshadowing the passage you play at 18'30 (therefore a somehow similar tempo maybe ?) because I think this is how the structure of this concerto works. Thank you and bravo !

SUPER EDICSON!!

20:02 playing Tutti with the Orchestra, every soloist has to do that nowadays cause it keeps them playing

I feel that your vibrato is just too sweet to play this place like it is not really not for this piece because I didn’t get any power from it like I do when I listen to other performers you are just a vanilla sounding guy I need some chocolate on this piece

He used to played the way you said, look for his koussevitzky from 10 years a go.

The intonation its fine, but you played many fake notes and missed some others. Also, I think the tempo at the beginning its really slow and the character its too sweet.

His bass is weird it’s pear shaped his vibrato is very different idk how he makes that sound but it’s the sound that I would listen to but then I hear Gary Karr and then I realize Gary’s is 10X better

This is an old way to play the bass. Also a simple piece. This guy also had very bad posture.

...simple piece?! ...and by the way "RW12": Where are Your manners?? He is not "this guy", he has a name, Mr. Edicson Ruiz!!! Member of Berlin Philharmonic!!!
@isabel80886 жыл бұрын
its actually a really hard piece and really tiring. You have to maintain a good and powerful sound to the end. It is not a simple piece at all

@@heinrichnutzel7031 don't waste your time on people who don't know anything about the bass, i have more than 10 years playing this concerto and it's not getting easier. This is a really different performance from what we have listened the past decades, it is so Edicson. 😍
@heinrichnutzel70316 жыл бұрын
Thank You, i fully concur with You, especially about "it is so Edicson"!!!
