I just watched this on BBC 2 . There aren't enough superlatives to describe the beauty of this , and yes , I cried . Catch it , you won't be disappointed .

The film brought back many memories of holidays in Wester Ross in the 60s and 70s, climbing Suilven and having tea in the Culag Hotel in Lochinver. We even had weather as good as this sometimes. Sensitive and powerful performances from the 2 main stars and the cinematography and Debbie Wiseman's score are fantastic throughout.

Would be very interested in seeing the film if the tickets are still going spare. Sheila Hancock is such a great actress and she plays the part with such empathy!!

Sounds brilliant to me...Hope to get to see it with a Scottish friend, she doesn't know this yet...as a sweet young thing I used to go through the paddocks and climb a tiny hillock and the neighbors collie dog would come galloping though the long grass and up the hill to me...a favorite old song...The place where I WORSHIP IS THE WIDE OPEN SPACES...Google it !!!

This movie is okay for the beautiful scenery, but other than that... I dunno. Nothing really rang true to me. The acting is over-the-top, lots of cliches and stereotypes, some strange events that are supposed to be funny (I guess) but aren’t, lots of eye-closeups (very annoying), and somehow I didn’t feel for the two main characters.

I generally agree. There was a good movie in there somewhere. But the attempts at comedy were clumsy. And the drama somewhat contrived. And more than a few of the characters were over the top cliched. A shame, because Hancock was very good. The screenplay was not worthy of her talents.
