Hello! I’m so glad you found this video useful🥰 so, I had a lot of exchange students in my accommodation actually (Hermit’s Croft) and it was great for them to mix with people who also were learning about the city. I’d definitely recommend living in student accommodation but it really is luck of the draw to find good/like-minded people. Hope that helps!☺️🌸

I’m looking for accommodations that are self catered, not located in the Cowgate area(not noisy), and close to George Square. You are most welcome, I am glad it was useful! As far as I’m aware, there are no pets allowed in university accommodation 😞 but pets can be allowed in the Quarter Mile because it’s a private accommodation 🙈✨

No problem, so glad it was useful for you. I’ve actually never heard of this accommodation before but just checked it out and it’s a fine location. It’s in more a second year onwards location (Tollcross) rather than where freshers are usually based. But price seems fine and it’s still a central location for George Square, just on the other side of the meadows than some other undergrad accom, but we’re only talking a 10 minute walk! Hope that helps! ☺️🌸

Hiya! Thank you for making this video! I've applied for this uni and my campus would be edinbrugh college of art. For some of these accomadations, the most direct route from walking to that campus, is through the park. I'm a bit worried about safety and think it would be better to have a walking route on a public road. Would u also deter away from walking routes that go through the park for safety concerns?

Hello! Thanks for your comment. Do you mean the Meadows? What I would say is of course like any city, walking alone at night can be dangerous. But, what I would also say is that the Meadows is well-lit at night and tends to have a lot of other students and members of the public walking around. I used to walk home directly through the meadows everyday after my classes and never had a problem. There were so many others also walking there. So, it’s really up to you to decide ☺️

@@AlanaDunsmore Ah yes, Meadows. That's good to hear its well lit and still has lots of people around. What things do you recommend prioritising? E.g. common room in your building, large room, or if it's close to prince's Street. And have you heard of anyones experiences in New Arthur Place? Also, on the website they list 'small single rooms' which are cheaper, do you know if there's much of a difference between the small and standard rooms?

It's pretty far from the University but other than that, do you know any other downsides regarding this accommodation? And do you know anybody who successfully transferred to another University accommodation? Because I've heard that you can actually transfer if there is a vacancy.

Hello! Good question. I believe Edinburgh have different post-grad halls? In all honesty, I’m not sure you would want to stay with undergrads, they can be noisy at the weekends! But also mid-week! From experience having been one in these halls😹 but just call up Edinburgh if you can and double check but I don’t remember any post grads living in my halls☺️

Hi! I am looking into doing a year abroad in Edinburgh. Because of different circumstances I am already 26 and will be 27 on arrival but am doing my undergraduate currently. I know these places are only first years and internationals, do you think I would be out of place (or even an outsider) for being almost 10 years older than most people there?

Hey! Thanks for reaching out. No, I don’t think you’ll be an outsider at all! One thing to remember if you want to live in halls is that a lot of parties happen so if you’re not into drinking it can feel a bit difficult to be involved and a bit annoying from the noise and chaos haha! But finding like minded people is easy at a uni as big as Edinburgh! Hope this helps!☺️✨

Meanwhile, I was accepted by the university in Edinburgh for my year abroad and I decided - also thanks to you - to live in one of the halls. I got a place at Warrender Park Crescent. ☺ I am not much of a drinker (though I will have a pint or two every now and then), and people have already started inviting me to pub and club crawls now, but I figured I can handle that. Again, thank you so much for your advice!

Hello! Thank you for your comment. I only know a friend of a friend who lived there but she never complained about the accommodation at all. Just bear in mind that it’s maybe a 20/30 minute walk to central campus (depending on how fast you walk) but it’ll be a nice and modern accommodation and I believe they have en-suite bathrooms? So, with that in mind, it’ll probably be a nice place to stay ☺️✨

Just basic and a bit of social needs are there, pretty much a very simple lifestyle with full focus on studies.
