I think that staple monstes and backrow that you'll see in virtually every deck is one of the best things about goat. Not only because it's familiar but because it makes the format play like chess. In chess there are the same pieces and each piece moves the same way in a fixed setting, but that's where real skill comes into play. I do love edison too though, two best formats for different reasons.

This is the first video I watched on your channel after seeing Sunny's tier list video recommend it. As someone who actively plays both formats, I think you did a great job explaining a lot of the differences and similarities that both formats have. Great video and I'll be checking out some others.

Edison is snowballing way harder than goat, aside from that Id say they are both fairly similar in regards to consistency of decks and deck variety.

This and the beginners guide to edison were an absolute game changer when looking to start playing older formats again! Just in case you see the comment- if you had to pick 2 of the edison decks to go against eachother for casual play which eould you pick?

Probably Blackwings and Zombies. Blackwings have been a dominant deck for months now and it seems like they’re here to stay, so they’re a really great representation of Edison Format. Zombies have also been getting great results and offer a different playstyle than Blackwings. If you were gonna add a 3rd deck to round them out I’d probably suggest Quickdraw or Frog Monarchs. Those decks represent a slower, grindier playstyle.

@@CrowsNestRetroYGO Oh Quickdraw was an absolute auto-include even before the answer that deck seems so unique to edison, thank you so much! Probably going to go for zombies vs quickdraw for now for a grindier game:)

As someone who played through both formats as they were happening and spent most of 2022 playing goat and started play Edison late 2022. If you are familiar with card pools back then, then the learning curve for GOAT seemed a lot steeper to me.

I think a lot of the skills from the two formats are extremely transferable (which isn’t necessarily the case between current yugioh and a retro format). Becoming proficient in either Edison or goat definitely gives you a head start to becoming a skilled duelist in the other.
