How to edit photos in Procreate - Photoshopping in Procreate
In this Procreate tutorial, I'll show you how to manipulate a photo on the iPad.
We will first remove the background, then change colors, manipulate the photo and add paint strokes. In the end, we'll apply canvas texture and add a little makeup to her face.
I will also use the clone tool to remove hair on her shoulder.

Thank you for this video! I think it’s interesting to see how artists create art with photos. I wonder how parts of photos can be used in illustrations, for example applying a photo of a gemstone, or a photo of lace, to add texture to a painted character.

This is more like Photoshop stuff, but can be done on Procreate as well. It’s just less accurate and has less tools for that, but everything is doable :) It’s about layers blend modes and selection tool

Thank you Nancy 😊 If you turn Rotation lock off on your iPad, the tool bar in Procreate will change its position when you rotate the iPad. I hope it’s that what you mean 😊

hello...it love your work and follow every design. I had one query while I was designing this I was facing an issue after coloring the sweater and selecting it the entire image gets selected so what could be the issue? pls do advice will be really grateful. thankyou

Hey. Thank you for the comment. When using automatic selection, you can adjust selection threshold by sliding your pencil to the sides without lifting it up from the canvas. This way you can select bigger or smaller area , and make it work 😊

So I am an (extreme) amateur landscape photographer... Wanting to take my photographs into the world of fantasy, I want to do drastic photo manipulation ! With that said, I want to create a portfolio so I can apply for a diploma in visual arts.... Would you say going about doing this type of photo manipulations can be achieved with procreate, or should I jump into the Photoshop world? Thank you for your guidance

Hey Chantel, thank you so much for your comment. I should say that Procreate is a drawing app. You can do basic photo manipulation using it for sure, but photoshop has much more tools for that. I am going to share another photo manipulation Procreate tutorial this week, that will be an easy one. Also many digital designers combine photoshop and Procreate to create cool artworks. So I think it would be great if you know both programs. For example Photoshop has better tools for cropping and color correction, and in Procreate you can draw some extra elements. Wishing you best of luck in your art journey 😊
