Gareth, thanks for creating this and highlighting this GREAT new feature. Softr is killing it, the main advantage I see with Softr is the logical approach to layering on any permissions and features block by block. The ease of use is key, it makes it so easy to develop powerful integrations. Thanks again.

Totally agreed, Tony! Softr is really changing the game, I'm so impressed by their incredible efforts and speed of new feature releases. That said, this is the single most anticipated feature and I am so excited to use it more and more!

Looks great - looks like this funcitonality (field level permissions) is only available with the Business package ($165 per month) - is that right?
@GarethPronovost3 жыл бұрын
That's correct, at least at present

@@GarethPronovost thanks - as a quick comparison with stacker, this looks more visually appealing if used as a customer facing portal - more time consuming to set up for example the tables to begin with and to create the different permission permutations (showing fields and hiding fields and creating permissions). So I would vote stacker as an internal app and maybe softr as part of a customer facing portal but YMMV. Both great tools and such a great way to bring airtable to life and bring real speed and agility to deployment of web apps

Thanks a lot for your time and effort, I'm going to clone the Airbnb web app, so I'm willing to learn a lot about building the whole structure and database and the user authentication login and sign out, and again thanks for your time and help

Thanks for the video, Is this edit feature working well also when I want to edit a link record?
@GarethPronovost2 жыл бұрын
Yes I do think it works with linked records as well!
@matthiasfrank20203 жыл бұрын
Great video thanks for that! One quick question: instead of letting people edit entries, is it also possible to create an upvote / like function of sorts? In the way that visitors simply click an icon and it registers as +1 in airtable? Basically Reddit, in softr
@GarethPronovost3 жыл бұрын
Interesting question - I believe they have a feature like this, but I haven't tried it out yet myself. I'll let Softr comment to confirm!
@Softr3 жыл бұрын
Hi Matthias, yes we do - in fact, we even have a template that does that - upvote-tools.softr.io/, you can simply copy the template in your account and make changes on top.

@@GarethPronovost NOW what do you think with Airtable's Interfaces feature? You still have to pay for all the people you want to allow to edit records, so I'm less than impressed personally...

Thank you for the great video! So helpful in a lot of ways. I am having an issue though. I set up my group permissions exactly the way you did, but when I test it out the edit feature shows all fields, not just the one I want employees to be able to edit. I only want them to be able to change their status, but the edit feature allows them to change everything. What am I missing? Thank you so much for your help!

Hi. I have a quetsion: in your example, do all Consultants need to have Airtable account and have permissions for a Workspace/Database?
@GarethPronovost2 жыл бұрын
Hi Sergo - no, that's part of the beauty of Softr. Only one Airtable user/account is needed to build the base in Airtable - no additional licenses are required in Softr.

@@GarethPronovost Hi, thanks! That is what we need. In the plan description it says "Update Airtable records (all logged in users)". Does it mean that on professional plan only Airtable users can update the records and we need to go to Business one?

If all you need is to allow external users to edit your shared data, check out the new video we published today about editing records in a shared view. Softr is really powerful, but is best used for folks who want to build an interactive webapp!

How are you capturing the email of the person who created the ticket. I am unable to get the logged in user email id that I could send to airtable

That part came from the template I used in this example, but it's using a hidden field in the form that passes through the logged in user info. Here's our video that details this feature: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nqrUo4ZqiZugiKs

I was so excited by this feature, but seeing as it is going to cost a minimum of $295 AUD a month for this feature, that prices my little start up out of the market, which is a shame.
