I love The Haindl deck, and appreciate the moving backstory that was experienced by the creator in making his deck. I read extensively with the Haindl a few years back and found it wonderful to work with. I agree there are many options to see Thoth references ,but I feel it is a stand alone deck with its own unique system. Thank you for showing alongside the Thoth, so interested in hearing your thoughts and comparisons between the two decks. I shall certainly be revisiting and reading with the Haindl , artistically a truly beautiful deck!

Yes. I agree. It is a stand alone. I remember reading that Crowley had i-ching experience and associations with the minors too. I'd love to find a chart of that and see if they line up with the Haindl too. Thank you so much for telling me about your experience with the Haindl. Do you also read with Thoth?

Great comparison. I have been wondering it as well. Although you did not mention the borders are indicative of elements in The Haindl. The Haindl was the first deck I was ever gifted way back in the 90s.

Yes, the borders are a great tool, especially for larger spreads. Thank you.

Interesting comparison but I like to look at both decks as separate wonderful studies. I'm about to start a dive of the Haindl alongside the Visionary I Ching Cards by Paul O'Brien which are so lovely. The cards I've had a quick look at are so well placed. They give the minors in the Haindl a wonderful depth along with the Haindl books by Rachel Pollack. Also the runes bring in another element.

That is a great assessment. I've decided the Haindl is not a "Thoth" deck as I'd heard. Thank you for your insight. I hope your exploration of tarot, I Ching, and runes. :)

@@DerekJohnThomas thank you. The little study I’ve done so far shows this to be a truly magical or dare I say shamanic deck in the sense of integration of a lot of the themes dearest to me. Others may not see it that way but we all resonate to different teachers.

The ThoTh and the RWS decks working system. It living. Most if not all decks that come after these are watered down copies of the RWS and the Thoth decks. How can you say that the Haindl can be an alternative. The Haindl is at least inspired. That is all. is a very complex multilayered individual like his deck. My opinion.

Perhaps I was not clear. I had heard from many people that the Haindl was a Thoth deck, and I wanted to see how accurate that statement was. I am not criticizing the deck at all. I really appreciate it.
