I have a tip: I buy books at AB books (I live in Holland). Just look up the right name, it's in the UK. It's a platform. If you enter your address you can immediately see what the shipping costs are. I can't put it as a link because then it will be deleted. And mind the tax. That's what I've noticed since Brexit. If you order too high an amount, you suddenly pay a considerable amount in import duties. Also with books. Thanks for showing. You make me laugh 😁
@CameliaCraftsDesigns7 ай бұрын
I totally forgot to mention them Lucy, i buy from them too😁 Argggh Brexit, can you tell i'm not a fan. I used to buy from small sellers in Europe who now find it too time consuming and expensive to sell to the UK. I'll stop there as no one wants a brexit rant, i could go on for a while😅🤗😘💜

Thanks for this great video! Who doesn’t love Edith Holden books!? There’s one I found that I don’t think you have. It’s an Edith Holden address notebook. I probably ordered it from one of those places that sells old books, perhaps it was from Abe’s Books here in the US. It’s a spiral book maybe about 5x7 in size (I don’t have it in front of me right now), but I know you would like it.

Hi Julie. First let me say, please keep making videos,we love to see and hear from you. I have had two craft books based on Edith Holden drawings. One was based on cross stitch and embroidery and also knitting patterns and had patterns for floor mats and furnishings. My favorite is a cross stitch fire screen tapestry. Also a beautiful cardigan using the holly illustration on the back. The publishers certainly made a lot of different books and editions. Anyway thanks for the flip through of these wonderful books. I love the things people make from Edith Holden books and am glad you did a flip through on them. As you went through the books I noticed that "The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady" tends to have drawings on one side of a page and writing on the back, where "The Nature Notes has drawings on both sides of a page and the same with writing on either side of the same page. So, if you want more drawings, it's best to buy the first book you showed, if you can find a copy, lol. I love thrift/resale store shopping, but have yet to find an Edith Holden book. I did check the book website mentioned, nothing showed up for Edith Holden, hmm.... lol. My son is going to London in the fall, so will have him keep and eye out if he goes to any thrift stores while there, he doesn't mind looking for his mother, lol. Thanks again, love the informative video 💜💜💜

Also my Garden Notes have pages with lines to use for annotating your flower garden, 1984 date.... Anyway I love all Edith Holden so much I have a complete set of China setting for 8 that was by Noritake 1977. Thank you so much, Julie, for the flick through of all the various books. I've started buying some of Edith's books. Usually two a time, even with the astronomical postage cost to Australia from the UK. I had to put my beautiful 15 year old rescue cat Rocky to sleep on Christmas day, 4 weeks shy of me having the pleasure of being his human. My boy was on special diet food and was with me wherever I was. I figure that as he had his chair next to mine at my craft desk and he would be there 99% of the time I was there, he would get that i was spending my "Rocky money" on good things. I miss my boy not popping up occasionally and having a look at what im working on.

I love your channel, Julie. I am a cross stitcher rather than a paper crafter, but watching you is so soothing and like a visit with a dear friend while I stitch. I lived in the UK for two years in the 70s when my husband was in the US Air Force, and my heart always yearns for my British roots(English and Scottish heritage) and your chatting and especially your “waffling” feeds that. Keep on doing what you do; I will let you know when I make my first junk journal! 😘

These are amazing. I will have to give a look at eBay. Don't usually go on there. We don't have anything in charity shops here in my neck of the woods. Thank you for sharing all the yumminess...

Hi Julie. Great video showing the books you use. It was great to see them as the pages inside are very rarely shown so never quite know if the book is worth it. Love Edith Holden. You have made me a big fan. They really are beautiful. Was so funny when you showed the book you “thought” you were getting, and the “actual” tiny book you received. 😂. I’ll be online looking for other Edith books to buy and use. Thanks so much. Debs. 💜🤗

Thank you thank you. I am going to show this to my other half so he knows it is not just me! 😂 I have a collection like yours, I don’t have that Christmas one … never seen that before! The crafts one I have 2 of, paid 50p each for them, I used my tab/whale tail punch on the jumpers and flowers in the pictures and have a collection of really lovely interesting tabs now. Thanks again. Love your journal covers, good use for those postcards as I have struggled to use them cos they are so shiny! 💜

You're welcome Mrs ☺️ yes show him, i have a few more tucked away😘 the postcards are a bit shinier than i would like too. Another thing i've been going to try is a coat of clear gessoor maybe a matt laminator sheet🤗💜

Hi Julie! First time commenting but definitely not the first time watching, I love your videos. Watching from Canada. Not sure if anyone commented on this before me but eBay had a Country Diary book of knitting. Also wondering if you have any idea where I might find some of the gorgeous fabric? Thanks!

I break out in hives when I think about cutting up a book. Unless it is damaged. I’m working on it. ❤️

I was exactly the same at one time Deborah, but the amount that get destroyed in the UK is shocking. Now i look at it as saving and repurposing☺️🤗💜
