I was working as an au pair in Paris in 1962-1963 and when I saw that Edith Piaf would be having a concert at the famous Paris Olympia theater, I bought a ticket. The theater was huge and Paris came out in droves to see this iconic singer. When Piaf stepped on stage in her signature black dress, you could have heard a pin drop in the audience. She looked so tiny and fragile that I felt that if the entire audience exhaled together she would fall over. Then she started to sing and the hairs on my neck and head stood up. She may have been physically weak but her voice was strong and extraordinarily beautiful. As it turned out, this was her last public appearance and I feel so fortunate that I was able to see and hear her in person for her final curtain call.

А к 1963 году, за несколько месяцев до своей смерти, она продолжала выступать и дарить счастье многим людям. Детство у Пиаф было незавидное и очень тяжелое. А последующая жизнь Эдит Пиаф полна трагедии и грусти, она потеряла своих детей, любимого человека, и многих дорогих для неё людей. Её предавали, она оставалась одна на улице, еле сводила концы с концами. А после того как она уже стала петь, её молодые годы карьеры певца пришлись на период второй мировой войны, где она выступала в Германии перед французскими военнопленными, она также устраивала концерты в пользу семей погибших, и помогала солдатам французской армии бежать из лагерей военнопленных. Земляков восхищало её мужество и отвага. Будучи женщиной с маленьким ростом - метр сорок семь (1,47 м), а ближе к смерти весом чуть больше 30 кг, она всё равно продолжала петь. Будто знала свою скорую кончину и хотела петь столько, сколько ещё сможет. А эта песня, "Нет, я ни о чем не жалею" самая сильная песня, среди всех её остальных песен за всю её карьеру и жизнь, потому что в этой песне говорится именно про неё. Эдит физически была слаба и больна, но сила её духа, её воля и голос были невероятно сильными. Спасибо что поделились этой замечательной записью. Oh my goodness gracious...superb. I read this was filmed not too very far away from her passing. Her voice so strong, so filled with emotion, such authenticity. In this same year Judy Garland was also at her prime. How I wish they sang a duet. I often imagine Garland singing La Vie en Rose to Edith Piaf singing Over the Rainbow. Such talent in such tiny packages...Garland at 4'11" and Piaf at 4'9." Both passed at just about the same age. We were blessed to have them both for whatever time they were here with us.

@@Lidia_Verloka спасибо за ответ,в таком случае с чем связано такая буря восторгов публики,ведь по сути ничего такого,с чем асациируют эту песню действительно ценившие поклонники этой песни,ведь не музыки ни оперного исполнения в ней по сути нет,обычное синтиментальное исполнение на французском ,но это запомнилось многим поколением,при этом что многие даже с этим не связанное,странная и даже магическая сила музыки!
