Thanks for the ING tip. I do use Scrivener. Using the text search function I highlighted the INGs and was shocked. I am up to about 50G text in my story, and now will go back and get rid of as many INGs as possible. Thank again, hug and all that.

Great tips indeed. I still find I need to pay for an editor, however. Going between Fiverr and editmojo.com. Where ever I can find a deal. Self-publishing is expensive! Luckily, I can somewhat format on my own.

Oh, I quite agree. Just make sure that they say "Umm..." and "Errrr..." and "sort of" and "kind of" all the time.

Hi Absolutely loved this, I’ve just completed a first draft and am line plotting a second. I obvs will go back to the first after a well earned break and I’m super excited if not a little overwhelmed. Anyhow thank you for this writerly insight it’s given me such fire to keep pushing forward. If and when you see my book one day (I hope!) it will be because of people like you who took the time to help an amateur like me. Thank you!

Yes, all types of editors. But your work won't get a look in with a publisher if it's not up to scratch first.

The editing process more likley taks 40 to 80 hours. Experienced writers write well enough to save Editors substantial time and cost less. Go with the editor who gets the manuscript sold and works in the format process also. Clarity or playful reading Dr. Seus. for relaxation

05/08/24: Much too long! Cliff Notes: 1) Be VERBOSE. Never get to the point! 2) Be REDUNDANT: People love reading the same things over and over again. 3) Don't make your natural verbosity do ALL the work: Put the word "OF" in every single sentence. 4) Your publisher loves INVISIBLE type sizes. You adore your publisher. 5) Your publisher loves FAINT ink density. You love your publisher. 6) Book blurbs DON'T have to be factual. 7) KEEP GOING! Zoom past page 300 at 115 mph! Stop writing whenever and wherever you please. You're welcome!

I believe if you read a lot of other people work you’re in danger of picking up their work into your work. You could start plagiarising without realising it.

This is a common misconception. The more you read and write the more you develop your own voice and style! Keep reading, keep writing!
