The theory is that when the clock started running the girl's started doing sin, when jennie lits the matches it symbolizes that the girls have felt the spark of love. Slowly they love with the guys and they all r blinded by love but later they all die, as per stay mv everyone dies but except lisa. To continue this theory, jennie dies in the bath tub, jisoo dies in car accident and rose dies in the fire. Lisa is the only one who isn't dead when lisa wakes up the clock stops which symbolizes that lisa is mentally sick and hits reality that her friends are dead and in stay mv we can see that all go to heaven except lisa because she is still alive.

My interpretation is that it’s like a fever dream hence the alarm waking her up at the end. She longs to be in a relationship but her mom’s stories of how men will end up burning her (breaking her heart) causes these dreams that mix up her longing for a relationship with her fear of being hurt. As this song came out when most were in their teens, it was most likely to be interpreted as the members never having dated before to the South Korean public (and to the general age group it was marketed to within SK). It’s easy to see how western audiences would completely miss that the members have their future first relationship on their mind even though the lyrics are pretty clear on it being a new experience. Another reason why it is non-linear… because when you haven’t experienced something, you don’t know the order of how things happen or might happen.
