A major mistake. The only experience he has is trading a way cup winning assets from a team Dale Tallon built. We had two guys in house that would have been better. So the Oilers win the cup on backs of the Holland's and Keith Gretzky and Bowman gets the credit again? Not cool!

To quote Steve Carrell "NO, NO, GOD NO" (From The Office). Take care all. Oh, if 50% or more of Oilers Season ticket holders don't renew due to Mr. Bowman that sends a message. Leon (and Connor) NOT resigning due to Mr. Bowman sends the same message as does the team informing management that they won't play if Mr. Bowman is involved in any part of the organization (including the Bake and ECHL teams etc.).

@epiphany519
@epiphany519 2 ай бұрын
@@somebody7822 I respect your opinion. I listed options ONLY. Do I think Mr. Bowman belongs in the organization? No. It's also NOT MY JOB and NOT SOMETHING I CONTROL. For corporations the thing they understand is MONEY. If the money dries up changes get made. Players have to look at things for their careers. Right now we have probably the best shot at the cup and I truly hope we win it and continue to win it for years to come and yes that means currently WITH Mr. Bowman. BTW, I've been called many things but a Drama Queen isn't one of them.
@chaseorvis2828
@chaseorvis2828 2 ай бұрын
How would you convince 50% of those people who are diehard fans to stop attending games? I don’t like the signing but I still support the team and don’t think absolutely cooking the franchise solves anything. Same is probable true with Leon and Connor who have spent years climbing a mountain to get this team where it is.
@epiphany519
@epiphany519 2 ай бұрын
@@chaseorvis2828 People make up their own minds. Information out there including Mr. Bowman's REAL record (not what others did, what HE did) as a GM, not just the offensive issue I'm talking about the trades and deals HE made plus the drama with the offensive issue and his acknowledged culpability are powerful arguments. People decide what they want or if they want to be associated with a team that hired someone who was responsible for not doing their job and not following up. Some will "give him a chance" as they support the team. Some have or may walk away from the team as this is just another incident. We've done a fair bit of reclamation projects over the years giving others chances that no one else was willing to extend. This may be one too many for some. As a business you may associate with the team as advertising in a way but what happens if this hurts your business because the team hired this person? I don't believe it's there and probably won't get there but what happens if. Look I support the team. That means supporting all of the team. While I wish this hiring didn't happen it's not something I control or have any power over. I'm truly disappointed with the team and Mr. Jackson for doing this and I believe it wasn't a very wise decision BUT I support the team. I also postulate and allow others to do the same should they choose.

Bowman, Quenneville completely ignored what happened. Not sure you can call what they did a mistake. Cover-up and cover their butts might be a better way to describe the situation. How can you ignore sexual assault allegations and just move on as if nothing happened? They deserved to be suspended. They should be allowed to come back to hockey, but not in a position like this. ECHL would be better. Is this who we want dealing with Draisaitl? If I was Draisaitl I'd think twice about re-signing. He's buddies with Pastrnak, so maybe Boston would be a good fit for him. If it was me, I'd think twice about re-signing. Can Bowman be trusted? I agree that Dale Tallon was the main architect of the cup winners. I agree with the comments about Jeff Jackson. He was on a hot, hot streak. Now he has gone as cold as the middle of a January night. If I was an internal candidate like Keith Gretzky, I'd be major pissed off. Is there a connection between Bowman and Jackson? Quenneville going to be our next coach too?

The question that needs to be asked is what will be the actual role of Stan Bowman as the Oilers GM or will he have any real power to conduct trades and the signing of players to new contracts including future draft picks? Or, will all of the major decisions remain in the hands of Jeff Jackson? So, if the real power rests with JJ, then the role of the GM of the Oilers would have to be redefined since it would not fit into the traditional model of an NHL General Manager.

I guess we will see what he does with Broberg, Holloway, Draisaitl and McDavid. If they do win this year, I think Jeff Jackson should take most of the credit. I agree Pat, not happy with his behavior, but putting that aside, he inherited a great team and kept if good for a couple years, but then the team tanked. Bad trades and contracts towards the end that could put the team back into a pit. I heard Jackson said he liked his views/aspiration that he would put forth for the team, but actions and words are totally different.
