I can't explain it, but every single time I listen to this rendition of this song, goose bumps shoot up my arm at every chorus, and especially at the high part. It's pure bliss, and I'm amazed that this relatively obscure video on KZbin makes me react different then any other song. Beautiful.

Ten years after this performance and this piece still slaps. Amazing job done by amazing people. What a pleasure it was to meet John and Jeff. Thank you for such quality music.

As a professional orchestral bass clarinetist I want to congratulate the Edmund Welles Quartet for your innovation and amazing musicianship. I have watched most of your youtube videos and although I love playing Strauss, Mahler, and Shostakovitch, I still get jealous seeing bass clarinets play Radiohead and Iron Maiden.

How was getting into the field like? My passion is to play bass clarinet in a professional orchestra and I've done certain accomplishments such as making all state in Georgia, but my concern is that the field has too few job slots, and the ones that open up would be too competitive. Did you have an experience like this? I plan on doing a double major in clarinet and something else, like computer science, so that I have job security. Also did you major in clarinet or bass clarinet? I know most colleges dont offer bass clarinet majors for various reasons, but I just want to see what you have done.

Best cover of Creep, hands down! I actually listen to this version more often than the original. There's someone extra special about the virtuosity of pushing these tricky instruments pass their normal boundaries to make sounds that are not only unique but full of heart, passion, and soul. Brings tears to my eyes every time. BRAVO!

Lol you can hear his key stick down at 319 and then he flicks his hand out to pop it open. Really cool version of this song, I'd love to hear a more polished version.

A great performance. As a combination of the classical movements and the best example of live improvised jazz style. Live acoustic music such as this can sooth and save the soul. Anyone that is at least human should deeply relate to this.I might also add that those who like this might also look at other earlier period live jazz performances such as Chet Baker, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, (from early 1950's ~ late 1960's) to name a few that probably inspired these young musicians above. Also, the repetition of this piece in the base range and harmonics that occur at times, recalls much of the music that the late great modern-minimalist classical composer Philip Glass put to the movie soundtrack Koyaanisqatsi, if you haven't heard (and watched that entire masterpiece of film work from 1980

3:11 isn't out of tune. He simply played a succession of wrong notes, hahaha. I'm surprised none of you caught the half step mistake at 3:22. Yay for changing major to minor! :D

He was in the 3rd octave. I looked at his fingers, he was e, f, g. lots goes on when you are up that high, fingering is just one thing and embouchure and air control is another. my bet he was going for the left chromatic (e flat) key and hit the d flat key instead
