EDR vs. MDR vs. XDR

This is NOT accurate. I work for an MDR provider. We would NOT act on a breach without the client's consent. We make recommendations and speak on the phone with you, not an email. The big difference is the added pre-breach work: proactively researching threat intel and making recommendations on how you can increase your security to help prevent an attack.

that all depends on what EDR you are using, SentinelOne and ReaQta take action automatically, they have the AI built in to stop malware. It also depends on what the client has requested. I know that we have multiple clients that have an SLA asking us to act on certain things. I would be interested in what MDR provider you are speaking of.

Actually, you don't need SIEM if you have XDR. XDR will collect data from every platform in the ecosystem as makes tools talk to each other like EDR, CASB, email security solution and etc.. which will create an incident much smarter and and quicker than gathering them yourself using SIEM.

On the other side I see a better future for XDR solutions but Sec solution depends on the budget,company size and amount of attack points it has,and btw,prayers to him can help your company to make the best decision when choosing the best EDR solution
