Very nice. Couple of additional tips. Put your cell phone in "airplane mode" so you don't get messed up with texts and/or phone calls while flying. Second, one of your remote antennas was deployed backwards in this video. You want both with the flat side facing towards the drone.
@EdRickerVlogs7 жыл бұрын
Good point about the airplane mode. However, my remote antennae's don't turn that way. In order for them to point up away from the controller, they have to be oriented the way I have them in the video.

Very informative. I have had my Mavic Pro for a few months, but had to put it on the shelf for other priorities. Having to relearn the basics on vacation, I found this tutorial. As he says in the beginning, I wished I had known these tips when I first pulled it out of the box. Pro tip: download all the manual PDFs from www.DJI.com - especially the Mavic Pro User Guide, which was not included in my brand new Mavic Pro I bought a month ago, and it contains a LOT more info than all the little printed booklets inside the Mavic box. That User Manual REALLY should have been included in the box, since there’s SO many features and settings and options and things to be aware of. Even after 45 Flights in 1.5 months with my Spark and Mavic Pro, I am still learning important new things all the time. (For instance: the DJI GO 4 app video settings default to 50hz for AntiFlicker, which only makes sense for Europe, and seems to result in weird flickering watching the videos on my HDTV. Anyone in USA should change that setting to 60Hz, I’m 99% sure. (Please comment if you have a definitive answer.)

imagine if you will, going back in time to..ohh...hmm...1964 and go to an RC model hotspot with the Mavic Pro. The guys back in the day would freak! People spent fortunes to fly their garage made planes and the tech was extremely low in comparison. I'm 60 years old and blown away with the "progress" of modern living. The technology of today is awesome and the future looks bizarre with unknown discoveries!
@wilfdarr7 жыл бұрын
Dude! I'm in my thirties: when I first got into RC, helicopters were $2-5k. No kid could afford that! Now, with 4k video, autonomous flight, etc they are $500! And that's not correcting for inflation. My dad took a sled to school so, ya, that's where we've come in 80 years…
@camdenb84687 жыл бұрын
Wilfred Darr actually this is $999.99. Is basically 1K. Trust me, I've had my Mavic Pro for awhile now
@wilfdarr7 жыл бұрын
Camden B Sorry yes I know the Mavic is more, I meant that you can get an off brand with 4k video and basic return to home for as little as $500. The old nitro helicopters didn't have hover, return to home, and certainly not 4k video (heck you might have rigged a simple battery powered 35mm with a servo triggered shutter but no video camera of that time would have been light enough for a $5000 RC helicopter. We've come a long way! And that was only about 25 years ago.

Important couple of extra points for beginners: * Never start a departing procedure on a dirty place like he did. The Mavic Gimbal is way to much sensible, and any particle can obstruct the motors. * if you play games of any kind, you can change the function of both the axis, so it can fix better for you taste (Controller settings). * You can enable the extra 30° of camera inclination so you'll be able to look up when flying (Settings》Gimbal》Advanced) * On aircraft settings, adjust the level of break. I reccomend just a little more than the standard. Anyway you like. * To take good pictures on extreme dark environments, change to Manual mode (M), ISO to 800 and raise the Shutter to more than 1 sec. Don't move the aircraft until the photo is done. * NEVER transport the drone without the Gimbal Clamp. Again, it's really sensible. * The height is measured according to the start point, not the level of sea. *Always observe the terrain around for long flights. Adjust the height for automatic return (RTH) based on the tallest thing observable. *You CAN actually use the Gimbal helmet to fly, unlike what he said, but never the clamp. In fact, the gimbal cover is a good way to fly in dangerous places and it does not affect the aircraft at all. Note: The helmet blurs the image a little. Good flight

Question: firmware update out of the box too? At the moment there is a version 3 for the drone and a version 2 for the controller but should they not be the same version i.e. downgrade the Mavic to match the controller?
@EdRickerVlogs7 жыл бұрын
Hi Kevin, thanks for watching! My firmware was actually up-to-date right out of the box. However, if you connect the controller to the drone and app with cellular connection, it will scan the devices automatically and update the firmware very easily. As for a firmware discrepancy between the controller and the drone, I don't know...mine seems to match. That's odd to me.

For a beginner , first time , and not rally sure if i really need it or want it or why i want it apart from i love the way you can capture scenery and especially when you are on a road trip or you go to the coast. simply amazing..... so ...for a beginner....my question.... get the Air for saving and budget, or just get the Pro1 , or do i just get the Pro2 and get it done with?

Great introductory video - much better than DJI's own offering.

This was great thank you. Does it matter what sequence you power down the drone & controller?

You're actually supposed to slide the Antenna apart, then lift up. So there is no snapping on closing either to avoid damage.

The first and only video which got my drone off the ground and into the air after 1 year in the box - all other were hopelessly complicated

OK. I have followed this step by step and it worked. To noobs, this does need doing outside, preferably in good light. Got a little lost as to where in settings you'd gone once or twice but managed to find it. IMU started off green but did it anyway, compass did need setting. It's looking good. Bit cloudy so it's not getting light very fast today. I must admit I found the cable coming out of the mini iPad 4 uncomfortable, so I’ve ordered an Anbee front holder to sit the iPad in front of the antennae. I also don’t like the bag. I’m but an hour or so from my maiden flight just waiting for the sun to rise, all charged, updated and ready to fly. I set measurements to imperial but a lot remains metric like max altitude, I take it that’s fine. I’m sticking to beginner mode for starters
