I'm close to getting my CPA certification. Once I do I'll probably become an auditor for a Ernst & Young or PWC. I already spend pretty much all of my time reading financial statements and annual reports anyway for fun lol

Sorry, this may be a stupid question, but I'll ask it still anyway. If audit is important for investors and creditors to know that the financial statements of a business or company is credible or not, wouldn't it be better for the those same parties (investors and creditors) be the one who pay for the audit fee? I take it it is the companies that pay for the audit fee to have their FSs audited. And if it's the investors and the creditors who are paying for the auditors, wouldn't this allow them to be able to better trust the auditors by letting them (auditors) know that they should never be influenced by the companies being audited.

Thanks for the upload. The fin statement example gave me the impression that it was Enron at the start. I was right.
