I applaud this ref. Every call was spot on with Ionescu's services. He kept throwing the ball into his body and they certainly were not 6 inches thrown above the hand in a mostly up direction. We need more refs like this. I see so many pros with illegal serves it's ridiculous. The only thing I would change that the ref is doing on those calls is the apologies. I would not apologize for making the correct call. Play according to the rules or be disqualified. That's it. In my opinion, the coaches need to be held responsible for not correcting their players in training. I know some coaches who encourage these illegal services. An absolute disgrace.

i think theres no problem with ref calls about fault😅 its obvious low height and even hided the ball with shoulder and body....

How can someone qualify for Olympics not knowing the rules of the game? The height from the hand counts, not the absolute height. For threatening the judge he must be banned for a year at least.

I thought exactly the same, but if you see it in Slow motion, you will notice that even his bad serves are thrown high enough. The only Problem I see is that he throws the ball almost 30 cm backwards into his body. That is definitely not legal. The height nevertheless is not the problem. Bad player and umpire in this case.

Судья действовал правильно. Ионеску делал подброс мяча при подаче от ладони низко и набрасывл мяча на себя, что не разрешпется правилами. Поведение Иионеску по отношении к судье не спортивное, не культурное.

Hai ca ai invatat sa si servesti.... Mi se par lipsiti de respect jucatorii care se dau "jucatori" si stau cu palma deschisa la serva si arunca mingea spre corpul lor sa o ascunda cu capul/umarul/corp. Arunca mingea in sus ca si Timo Boll si nu o ascunde. Bine aici problema a fost inaltimea de la palma in sus, dar si eu daca as fi arbitru as da punctul adversarului cand vad astfel de mizerii, lipsite de fair-play, cum sa dai serva din mana, sau cum sa ascunzi serva, pai ce jucator esti tu?

@@andreimiron7968 nu ma super. Sunt revoltat nu pe Eduard in acest meci, care dupa parerea mea a aruncat mingea 15-16 cm in sus, dar nu suport cand vad "jucatorii" intre ghilimele care mascheaza serva cu corpul/umarul/mana libera...aceea chiar ma enerveaza...

The woman judge needs to be immediately disqualified, how does she even judge, this is absurd, Ionescu showed her everything correctly, I hope they will look after this judge and take action.

Easy to say this from your sofa, but you lose perhaps your life chance to be at Olympics because the ref couldn't see your service from that angle and she reckons your are cheating, that can be a big frustration. Let's be honest, 99% of pro player serve illegally
