In the case of the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox, the Council of Chalcedon in 451 embraced Nestorian christology, but a whole century later in Ephesus II in 553 ended up condemning what they had previously taught. Also, they are sadly very fractured: which communion would you join? Moscow, Constantinople, Old Believers, Greek, Bulgarian? Please at least prayerfully look into the Oriental Orthodox, beginning with the Coptic church if possible.

Then you would learn that the Greek word ἀδελφοὶ, translated as "brothers" means close or distant relatives. Nephews would be called brothers too. Moreover, the way this passage sounds in English doesn't make it clear what was the intention behind the statement. in Greek language οὐχ οὗτός ἐστιν - translated as "is not this..." - sounds the way that is clear that it aimed to mock Jesus, not to "speak the truth" about him. If you don't know the teaching of the original ancient church, if you never read the comments of the church fathers of the first 3 centuries (who were the disciples of the apostles and whose mother language was coen Greek - the language of the New Testament), you will base your theology on your understanding (or someone's else understanding) of the TRANSLATED text, and not on the original Word of God.

Well, I too used to be a Protestant Street Preacher, first Reformed and then would have lined up more with Lynn after a few years. I could also quote and recall a lot of scripture and was thought by many to be on fire and filled with the Spirit. I loved and still love the bible but I thank God that I have now experienced God more fully in the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church and my introduction was while trying to convert an Orthodox Christian who "went therefore" (Matthew 28:19) in his daily life and spoke of and demonstrated Christ to others, not as a loud mouthed street preacher but as one who applied 1 Thessalonians 1:11 to his own life and made it his aim "to study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands" and 1 Peter 3:15 "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear"

Literally the first conversation of the video is a young man saying “Mary is in heaven, therefore she’s close to God right? The angels and saints are in heaven therefore they are close to God right? That’s why we ask them to pray for us” None of what he said was biblical. It’s funny you say Protestants worship God the way they like to do it instead of how God wants us to do, yet we provide scriptural basis for everything we do. I am an Orthodox from Egypt and I do not understand what the problem is with being Orthodox. I am proud that I do everything that our Lord Jesus Christ says, everything that we have learned from the Bible. We do not worship the saints and we know that our Lord Jesus Christ is the only one who has the ability to forgive our sins of course, the saints do not have this ability we certainly know this. We only ask that they pray for us, and this teaches us to be humble, and because the Bible showed us how the Lord hears and cares about the prayers of His children and how the Lord works through His children The Bible asked us to pray for each other, and if you do not admit that, then you are saying that Saint Paul made a mistake when he said to the Thessalonians: “Pray for us.” (2 Thessalonians 3:1) Paul was a saint and he asked people to pray for them, and this is because he was humble and knew that the Lord hears and cares about the prayers of his children. So how can I, an ordinary person, not have the humility to ask for the prayers of the saints? I love Pastor Lynn, but unfortunately I think he does not know what Orthodox is, because if he knew Orthodox, he would know that we follow and work with all the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ that we learned from the Bible.

When paul said "pray for us" he was talking to the living christians, and he was just normally having a conversation with them, not praying to them so they can pray for him. Of course we do pray for each other, but we can't seek out to dead saints to pray for us. That was never taugh in the bible. We don't see the ancient christians seeking out, or praying to saints who are no longer alive in flesh. Prayer is a different, and unique way of communicating with God. Prayer is different, because it is done in the sole belief of being heard by God. No one other than God is communicated with prayer. If Mary, or any other saints were still alive, I would have asked them to pray for me, as they would have also asked me to pray for them as christian community. And, the other problem is singing praises to saints, and also Mary. Psalms are worships, only that should be given to God.

@@peterehab592 Psalms are worship. We worship the lord with psalms, and making psalms for dead saints ain't worship? When I say dead, I don't mean cease to exist. When I say dead, I mean sleeping saint like paul would call it. They are not active with us and interacting with us. We don't know if they will hear us or not. The only one that can hear prayer is God himself. I am not saying saints in heaven don't pray, they might. But, we have no idea if they will hear our prayers. Asking and praying are different, is what I am saying. My fellow christians might pray for me when I am weak, and that is because I get to ask them because they're next to me and I can deliver my message to them. No way in the bible do we see people praying to saints or to angels. We do no see them singing to saints or angels. These are sacred acts that only should be directed to our father in heaven. Jesus taught to pray to the father with his name. And if we can't find our fellow christians next to us, we have an only only intercessor in heaven, and he is Jesus 1 Timothy 2:5. Why do we bring other practices in the spiritual world when it was not practiced back in the acncient church? They only prayed to God, and they only praised God. And, I don't think we should add anymore because it is being in risk of blasphemy even if there is a chance you guys might be right.

This was not mentioned, but we believe that we are all members of the body of Christ, whether living or dead. Therefore, if it is normal that we ask for prayer from the living, why do we not ask for prayer from the dead in the Gospel of Luke? 15:7 written I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent So we all pray for each other, not specifying that they are only the living. Also, our Lord performed many miracles by using His living children and His dead children. In the end, you will not lose anything when you speak with the saints who died, and if you choose not to speak, you will not benefit anything.

And also, you don't see the practice of christians praying to saints in the bible. Where did we bring that practice from? And, you stating that I won't benefit anything if I don't ask dead saints, well that is very wrong because the bible tells me that I will benefit if I ask in the name of the son. John 15:16, John 16:23-24, John 14:13-14. These passages clearly tell me that I benefit if I ask through the son. Timothy 2:5 Tells that Jesus is the only one intercessor. Again, in the bible there is no practice of praying to dead saints. There is no psalms to dead saints. These are truly blasphemous. God is the only one we ought to communicate through prayer and no one else, actions are words and the bible shows only the practice of prayer to God. As an orthodox this needs more clarifcation. You pray to mary because she is the most blessed of all women to ever touch the earth, on the the other hand her mother is not. You pray to Jesus because he is the path to forgiveness and god. You don't pray to mary so she can erase your sins but so that she can beg god to erase your sins. Pastor Lynn also found a problem with praying to every signficicant person in the bible, there is no problem if you dont or do that. In ethiopia there was a story of a man who prayed until his leg fell off. Just as god sacrificed his life for us, we should also be willing to sacrifice many things in order to get salvation. If its easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than a rich man going to heaven, what are the odds of us going to heaven. Just admitting to Jesus' legitmacy wont get us anywhere, we need to be devout. Something common in protestant churches is dancing. If a man goes to a club he dances, in gods home he dances the same dance. Thats dissrespectful. You wear the same clothes you sin with to church, most protestants dont fast, and eat pork. All of wich are forbidden by god. They use the death of Jesus as an excuse, they take Jesus lightly. Christianity is not a walk in the park, going to heaven is not a walk in the park. It's more complicated than that, read the book of enoch and all of the books excluded by the Protestant Bible. The ethiopian orthodox bible contains the secrets of the church.

Wait until you hear that David danced as a form of worship. Also, saints being holy is between them and God. Why not pray to God directly through Jesus? Was his purpose not to be an intercessor for mankind? What do clothes have to do with salvation? What good is changing clothes to go to a holy place if you're going to go back home, change back, and continue sinning? To add on, the book of Enoch is considered by all biblical scholars as a pseudepigrapha, which is why literally no other church aside from Eritrea and Ethiopia has it.

Well Sir, if you are using the logic of 'I venerate Holy Mary because she is the Mother of God, you're not going to end up venerating her ancesters more, that is the wrong conclusion. The arguments for praying to Mary (or any saint) are weak if you just let the Scriptures instruct you about prayer. If its so essential, why do we NEVER see our Lord Jesus teach it? Or Paul, Peter, John? We have many instructions on prayer, examples of prayer, but they do not refer to Mary or the saints in heaven.

Your turn, show me one place in the Bible where we are commanded to pray to dead people? One example?

But nowhere in the Bible is such a concept found. So although there are verses that support praying to saints (that you would ignore or reject the interpretation), it doesn’t NEED to be in scripture for it to be true.

the context of this verse is talking about for salvation not praying. For Christ is the Mediator for our salvation. the full context is verses 3-6 talking about salvation not prayer. its not good to take one verse and run with it when theres context. for the first 1000 years of the church the scriptures had no chapters and verses. so context matters for a reason.

@@MatthewMencias sorry my friend but david does not follow the early chruch because in 2 Thessalonians 2:15 it says " So then, brothers, stand firm and hold the traditions which you were taught by us, whether by word or by letter." protestants little to no any traditions our chruch was founed by the lord jesus while protestantism was founded with a man who thought he can make his own church witch led other people making there own churchs who shoulndn't have therefore making hundreds and hundreds of church that became distant from the lord and cant even agree with each other. You can tell the differnce between the first protestant church ( the luthern chuch ) and the later ones like (the pentecostal church) so no he didn' tdemolished orthodoxy or Catholicism.
