This NoSQL Database and Apache HBase tutorial is specially designed for Hadoop beginners. Apache HBase is an open-source, distributed, non-relational database modeled after Google’s Bigtable and written in Java. It provides capabilities similar to Bigtable on top of Hadoop and HDFS (Hadoop Distributed Filesystem) i.e. it provides a fault-tolerant way of storing large quantities of sparse data, which are common in many big data use cases. HBase is used for real time read/write access to Big Data.

2. What is Hbase?
3. Where to use HBase?
4. Where not to Use HBase?

could you please let us know how to add a integer column to hbase table with default value 2 ?
@edurekaIN
@edurekaIN 8 жыл бұрын
Hey Satish, thanks for checking out the tutorial. Coming to your question, in Hbase, anything that can be converted to an array of bytes can be stored as a value. Input could be strings, numbers, complex objects, or even images as long as they can rendered as bytes. Below command is used to put data in Hbase table: put ‘table name’,’row ’,'Column family:column name',’new value’Example: put 'supermarket','3','product:chair','2'Hope this helps.

It is a good vedio but the introduction around Google and Facebook contribution to big Data has been overstretched for 10 minutes which becomes distracting.

Great Session Thanks. What was the Hlog box in you architecture Diagram ?
@edurekaIN
@edurekaIN 8 жыл бұрын
+Mohammad Raza, thanks for the wonderful feedback! Please read the below given details for information on HLog: HLog stores all the edits to the HStore. Its the hbase write-ahead-log implementation. It performs logfile-rolling, so external callers are not aware that the underlying file is being rolled. There is one HLog per RegionServer. All edits for all Regions carried by a particular RegionServer are entered first in the HLog. Each HRegion is identified by a unique long int. HRegions do not need to declare themselves before using the HLog; they simply include their HRegion-id in the append or completeCacheFlush calls. An HLog consists of multiple on-disk files, which have a chronological order. As data is flushed to other (better) on-disk structures, the log becomes obsolete. Feel free to contact us if any problem arises. Cheers!

hbase with phoenix provides a SQL interface.
@edurekaIN
@edurekaIN 8 жыл бұрын
+Jonny Paki, thanks for checking out the tutorial! Just to elaborate on your statement, Apache Phoenix is relational database layer over HBase delivered as a client-embedded JDBC driver targeting low latency queries over HBase data. With the help of Phoenix you can query the hbase data using normal sql queries. Apache Phoenix takes your SQL query, compiles it into a series of HBase scans, and orchestrates the running of those scans to produce regular JDBC result sets. The table metadata is stored in an HBase table and versioned, such that snapshot queries over prior versions will automatically use the correct schema. Direct use of the HBase API, along with coprocessors and custom filters, results in performance on the order of milliseconds for small queries, or seconds for tens of millions of rows. Java api for hbase, queries the hbase in hbase syntax like get, put and scan. But, Phoenix does this in sql fashion. Cheers!

hello sir pls help me to slove this error Error : can't get master address from zookeeoer ; znode data == null in hbase pratical
@edurekaIN
@edurekaIN 6 жыл бұрын
Hey Tanvi, "If you just want to run HBase without going into Zookeeper management for standalone HBase, then remove all the property blocks from hbase-site.xml except the property block named hbase.rootdir. Now run /bin/start-hbase.sh. HBase comes with its own Zookeeper, which gets started when you run /bin/start-hbase.sh, which will suffice if you are trying to get around things for the first time. Later you can put distributed mode configurations for Zookeeper." Hope this helps!
