Thanks Edureka for such video. Its indeed a very neat explanation. I have few questions though. 1. If Hadoop HDFS is a solution for big data, with that Replication Factor concept, isn't making the big data even bigger ? Say i have 2 TBs of data and while saving it to HDFS we need 6 TBs of space for a default Replication Factor as 3. In this way we need more storing space hence more slave nodes. Is it a drawback of the Hadoop framework ? Let me know if my understanding is wrong. 2. While loading into the HDFS , it maintains a replica of data which means we have duplicates in the overall file system. In MapReduce mechanism during reading the data, nowhere in the video it is mentioned that we receive duplicates. If it doesn't receive duplicates, then how it works internally to fetch only one set when we have other 2 sets present in the file system ? 3. What if we have a failure/outage in the Name node and Secondary Name Node servers ?
@edurekaIN7 жыл бұрын
Hey Amit, thanks for checking out our tutorial! We are glad you found it useful. It won't be possible you give an explanatory answer here, I would suggest you to go through our Hadoop Architecture video in the below playlist: kzbin.info/aero/PL9ooVrP1hQOEmUPq5vhWfLYJH_b9jFBbR To answer your queries briefly: 1. Yes, more replication means more storage space. But this is something organization decides on how many replications to have. Because if you do not replicate your data and you loose it, that would be a huge loss. But spending money on slave nodes which are very cheap is a better option. 2. Data is stored on HDFS in "blocks" and namenode has all the information of which data is store where. A mapreduce job runs parallely on the datanodes and checks the nearest block (a replica) on that node and reads it. 3. In Hadoop 1.x, this was called as single point of failure. But in Hadoop 2.x, we have concept of High Availability, where we can have more than 1 namenode. If one namenode goes down, the other namenode gets activated and the hadoop cluster does not go down. Hope this helps. Cheers!

@edurekaIN7 жыл бұрын
Hey Vishal, thanks for checking out our tutorials! We're glad you liked them. While these KZbin tutorials will give you a good introduction to Big Data and Hadoop you will need structured training with hands-on to truly learn it. Also, since these are pre-recorded videos, you will lose out on doubt clarification and interaction with instructors who come with industry experience which will benefit you. We suggest that you take our Hadoop course which is a live course led by instructors and comes with 24x7 support. You will also get to work on practical assignments and a project towards the end of the course which will prepare you for job interviews. After all, practise is what makes you perfect. You can check out our course details here: www.edureka.co/big-data-and-hadoop. Please feel free to get in touch with us if you have any further queries. Cheers!

What are the skills required to learn big data
@mmaller03197 жыл бұрын
You mentioned HDFS can also work with structured data.Does this mean Hadoop can be seen as a probable replacement for RDBMS in certain use cases .I dont think so.RDBMS is still the best choice when it comes to structured data .Only when its unstructured or semi structured Hadoop is the #1 choice and for structured it can only be an add on rather than a replacement?What do you say?Nice session by the way.....
@edurekaIN7 жыл бұрын
Hey Manjunath, thanks for checking out our tutorial! Yup, we agree with you that if you have structured data RDBMS is perfect. But, imagine a condition where you have all the three kinds of data i.e. structured, semi- structured as well as unstructured and you have to analyze it, then what would be your approach? Here, Hadoop comes into the picture, where you can dump any kind of data without pre-schema validation and easily analyze it. Also, try to understand that we are talking about archived data and not operational data. Hope this answers your query. Cheers!
