Itzhak Perlman brought me here: today marks his 71st birthday and being given a Happy Birthday from The Violin Channel, he said in his interview this was the first piece he can remember falling in love with. : :D

The version I grew up with only had four movements. Bell-Ringing is totally new - and beautiful. Thank you!

I just listened to an interview with Itzhak Perlman, who named this piece when he was asked if he had a favorite. He said that he fell in love with the piece as a young adult and even dreamed about it when he slept, so I had to check it out, and I’m so glad did! Gorgeous!

One of my favorite romantic masterpieces of all time. Listen for the song "Strange Music" from the film "Song of Norway" -- a beautiful performance.

Grieg may have been a so-called miniaturist, but an exquisite one.
@carrieheidbrier19256 жыл бұрын
Non-miniature pieces are overrated! So inaccessible to those who don't have an hour to pay serious attention to a piece
What this world needs is a new wave of classical composers renewed, instead of these useless popstars and rockstars -- if nothing else can straighten up humans, let true music bind them and force them to act mature, if they can't be mature by natural choice! What this world needs is more Griegs and Prokofievs and Sibeliuses; so on and so forth!

Much of the compositions used in movies are building on the same soundscapes as you find in this type of music, and it's very popular in some crowds. And people should be allowed to like what they want. It's just as narrow minded to only acknowledge classical music as it is to only approve of pop/rock.

Wow! Ye clearly have no idea what ye are talking about, because as long as ye see that ye are yapping, ye think ye are making a point, ey? The world should tolerate idiocy or else it is narrow-minded, it seems! What the world don't need are more of your lot, because it has been messed-up enough!

My lot is the kind of people who actually perform all that music you like, so if we disappeared off the face of the earth, you would have nothing to listen to ;)

As long as ye lot don't get all crazy / fanatical and disappear with the manuscripts (and their copies) as well, i'm sure the genre is safe enough to endure through years ahead!

People can like more than one genre - I'm a big fan of Bon Jovi, for example, but I also listen to a great amount of classical music, my top 5 composers being Brahms, Mahler, Ravel, Grieg, and Shostakovich, and I want to play in an orchestra professionally. The different genres don't exclude each other.

I have been trying to find this for so long, but I cannot find it anywhere else, is this a combination of several songs, or is this one track? Thanks for posting.

This is a suite of pieces that make up Grieg's opus 54. They are all stand alone pieces but the posting here has them as one set. This is a set that Grieg orchestrated. His many sets of lyric pieces were written specifically for the piano and there are numerous renditions to be found on You Tube. Enjoy.

Patrick Foster - I believe the word you want is “bucolic”: relating to the pleasant aspects of the countryside and country life. Amazing, Inspiring, Ethereal, Moving, Transformative, Reflective, Pastoral, and Unforgettable could also be used to describe Grieg. Let’s leave “bubonic” to the fleas, eh? 😎
