I was a foster kid of 12 when I bought this LP. Exactly this recording. I had set up an old turntable and amp in the attic and would lay with my head between the speakers in the dark. This ( and Beethoven sym 5&6) transported me from the squalor and violence to another place; magical and sublime. I often credit my love of this music for my emergence(relatively healthy) from those terrible days.

I'd like to thank you for mentioning Beethoven's symphony 5 and 6. I try to collect all of the good pieces of classical music to play in the background (24/7), but I don't know their names. Those two are among my favorites from my childhood, so they make great additions to the collection.

My mother didn't like this music, because as a child I listened to a recording of Peer Gynt approximately 999 times. It is still my favorite listening pleasure, over Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Mahler. This music will never leave my soul, because it fashioned my soul.

11:40 Solveig's song.. the piece itself is very moving, but even more so when you understand the context of it in the play
