No doubt the best series of Teaching Video's on the Internet. I have watched them several times as I attempt to set up a small Home Studio as a Hobby. Ed has taught me a lot, saved me lots of times, and reduced my frustrations. I have bought gear based on his Video's, set it up plugged in my Flashes, and Camera's, made power settings. And frankly very pleased with the photos I have taken as I learn. Ed's Vidoes' has really made Photography in My home lots of fun for this old man. Thanks Ed for all of your time, and work producing these most excellent Video's.

Thanks a lot, Ed. I enjoy your very clear instructions AND illustrative examples. Very succinct. You give specific light ratios for various lights, their positions and final photos to show the effect of each. I like the 3D graphics from different angles to illustrate the distance, angles to the subject. I've learned more flash portrait photography from you than from anyone else in the past two years. THANK YOU very much.

Yet again Ed another great educational video precise and to the point well done . Its a shame that a lot of other so called pro photographers that use KZbin, to supposedly try and show or teach people on the how-to's on various lighting scenario. Do not watching your channel, they could learn far more from just one of your 15 minute videos than spending 1 hour and 30 minutes trying to show or how to do lighting setups. Ed i have a lot of respect for the way that you are showing the correct way of lighting a subject . keep it up please, you are one of a handful that i can appreciate and count on to produce good videos.

Every low budget studio photography video I've ever watched are headshots or half body. Does anyone want to know why? It's because full body photography is a lot harder than half body or headshots. You would think you have learned all you needed until your clients request for full body. In my area, my clients are mostly people who are taking photographs to keep memory of their outfits as well as their looks. So, most request for full body photography. It's really frustrating to see that 90% of studio photography videos are all headshots and half body which to me is easy. The remaining 10% videos I have watched used really expensive lighting setup. Video makers should take up this challenge. That's another great video by the way ;)

The light itself can be a standard flash or strobe. But modifying it with a strip light style softbox would give you nice results.

Thank you so much for these videos and all of the valuable information they contain! You have clear audio and organized explanations of flash setups and other information that every good photographer needs to know and professionals use daily. The production of these videos takes a lot of time and effort and I really appreciate it and I'm sure many other photographers do also. Best of luck to you! I'll be learning to become a better photographer from your videos for sure.

Another brilliant video with everything explained to perfection again, with even more excellent examples. I will often meter my first light to get the aperture I want, but then I will 'build' my other lights, reflectors and flags. I think as an hobbyist who only sells prints for the charity I have the luxury of being able to spend as long as I want to get the shot I want. I do like using colour gels for my background, as I’m shooting still-lifes mainly I will have props as my background and something like a soft yellow and orange stacked can give new life to something like corn (maize I think it is in America). You really need to do workshops if you don’t already. You just make great sense in a very fluid way.
