In this recording, the first movement is played at a tempo close to the indicated one. The second piece, instead, is played slower than what Elgar marked on the score, but it's more commonly chosen when performing. One of the few conductors that followed it is Hamilton Harty, who, however, chose a faster tempo for the first movement.
