Every day I walk past Edward Elgars home(its long gone of course) I have a vision of your elegant rendition of his work, thanks to his beloved wife Alice. When I play this work I transpose all your notes . No-one plays it as you do. Thankyou again for making my day.

A refreshingly convincing Romantic interpretation of this lyrical gem by Elgar (originally written for his (future) wife). This rendition starts softly and slowly, as if attesting to true love's profound base emphasized by the left-hand bass rhythm. Then, it picks up speed and sonority but also slows down from time to time at crucial moments, as if savoring the moment and hesitant to proceed, but proceed it does to the satisfying end, rubato and all. The final soft note/chord is a reflection of the beginning: a looking back on the beginning, middle, and end of the process of love's greetings. A talented artist's interpretation and great music making. Bravo!

heloisephilomele Heloise, if you don't mind: I don't have a classical piano education, but rather keyboard and organ. I can read the score but I have a hard time getting to play the left hand. Do you have any advice on how to make it flow naturally?

Hi Heloise! I really, really like your interpretation. I love the dynamics in speed and volume and especially that the tempo you start with is perfectly moderate.

I used to create special piano recitals for about 20 years ( see : muiesis. com) Meanwhile I have renounced playing the piano in public - I am trying to fully dedicate my life to GOD; I cancelled all performances and took a vow of silence. A nice version, though I find the continual rolled chords a bit irritating - yes they are in the score but were rather a fashion of the period, and other modern interpretations tend to reduce the number, to keep the harmony tighter. She has a beautiful touch and dynamic range. I think I still prefer the version by Lydia Maria Bader. Originally for piano and violin in D, which Elgar arranged for piano in E and which he sold for a fiver to the publisher who made a bomb from the original versions and many others, including a slightly easier piano version in B flat, published around the same time.
