This is a movie I had to watch a couple times. The way they explore someone's part they play in the world and why.... Very interesting.

All three did great, but I think Milla did the best, or at least, had the biggest jump in terms of acting.

Edward Norton is amazing. How did he make his voice raspy like this?

anyone saying that Stone should be black is racist and stereotyping the fact that cornrows should only be wore by black man. It made sens to me that the character was white, it was part of him being lost and not really knowing who he was. He was a confused dude. The stereotype is maybe more, him getting cornrows while in jail, than him trying to pretend to be one.

m22, I hear your words and agree with some of your opinions but did you know that Edward Norton is in, The 25th Hour, directed by Spike Lee? EN is a great admirer of Lee and has referred to Lee as one of the best American directors. EN is also in the movie, American History X, which contains a powerful anti-racist message. EN is also involved in projects that promote racial diversity in American communities and in the Maasai Wilderness Conser. Trust. Why pick on an actor that is in your corner?

@ryanjenq never said MUST! And in case you hadn't noticed film is a visual medium, every aspect and deliberate detail is to be used and or INTERPRETED to communicate a message. and have you hever thought the sterotype is not against the black american community but the racist White american establishment. If the shoe fits wear it. If the no justice system is corrupted, yell it from the mountain tops! sadly this directly chose to white wash what a higher persentage of Blacks face as a relality.

so, the ending was confusing? who burned down De Niro's house? Did Stone leave his girl when he got out of jail? I felt bad for De Niro's poor wife. I kind of felt like Stone had a spiritual awaking - his girl just liked helping cons, and De Niro got what he deserved anyway; and was never really religious?

Anthony Nazzaro stone left lusetta and the wife burned down the house so she could have a reason to leave her husband .

Maybe you think he's boring because he's intelligent and insightful and you don't fully understand what he's trying to say so you just get frustrated and bored.

@moviedude22 dude robert downey jr's character wasn't black, it was a white person in blackface and that was the joke. you should do some research before you make accusations of racism.

Confused? They even sound as if they’re confusing themselves discussing the theme of confusion. It must confusing convincing yourself that the film you’re discussing is actually any good when you realise deep down that film is shit.

hes having a hard time conveying what its about, because its a hard concept to explain. its even harder explain the feelings and awareness of an individual who is experiencing transformation spiritually. Denrio's character is struggling to very hard to find his own spiritual elightlightment. and but hes got his inner demons he battles which sorta prevents this from happening. .......prevents him from salvation....

Danielle Martell did not think De Niro’s character was trying to find any sort of spiritual enlightenment. He was a bored old man who was shitty to his wife and was instantly sucked in by the chance of bedding Jojovic’ character at the first chance. He also tried and failed to have a fling with his colleague. Nowt spiritual. Possibly a bit of self-destruct? He could’ve been out the marriage years prior had he not threaten to chuck his own daughter out of a window and he’s have been home free if things were that dull. Norton in this grated for me and found his character more irritating than anything else. Interesting though that perhaps we have both watched this film recently an have different opinions on it though! Glad you enjoyed (at least it seems you did) but not for me this time.

@jin12345678 No I'll make accusations and blow the whistle all I want. no I get the joke. sadly the joke's on you. While you were sitting wide eyed in the audience in awe, I was not. The character was not meant to be black, but the social context, could have fit a black character either way. and this post is about STONE, of which you have no real reply

So the protagonist has cornrows, that MUST mean the character is written as a black man. Haven't you even thought that having a black guy play this role would be perpetuating stereotypes in the black american community?

Milla is absolutely gorgeous and as a fellow Russian I really admire her and am proud of her success but she just can't act. I'm sorry. A great model, talented singer, but her acting is as good as Channing Tatum's.
